We have a law in NYS, that passed a few years ago, if you see a cop making a stop on the road you have to move to the next lane over. I like that law. Less of this kind of thing happening.

The off-duty detective was driving near the intersection of Whitsett Avenue and Riverside Drive in the Valley Village neighborhood at approximately 11 a.m., when she saw the elderly woman stumble and fall to the ground while she tried to make her way across the street, KABC reported.

Det. Leist, who was in the left-turn lane at the time, “put her vehicle in park, got out of her vehicle, and she went to assist the pedestrian,”

We have a "move over" law, too for any emergency vehicle. I always try to get over with any vehicle on the shoulder and didn't realize that so many didn't that they had to make an actual law for it here. A young tow truck driver was killed is what got it going here several years ago.
