Amber Alert issued for 15-year-old girl, believed to be with two suspects in murder case

An Amber Alert was issued on Thursday morning in Los Angeles for a missing 15-year-old girl.

Alora Benitez, a 15-year-old female Hispanic teen, was last seen with her mother and an adult man who are murder suspects in an investigation.

Alora was last seen at 9 a.m. in the city of Torrance. The teen was last seen leaving with her mother and an adult male in a White, 2013 BMW, 4-door sedan. The Nevada license plate is “MARIMAR.” Their direction of travel is currently unknown, however, on Thursday afternoon, authorities extended the Amber Alert to include Nevada.

Alora is described as 5-feet 2-inches, 100 pounds, Hispanic with brown hair and brown eyes.

Alora's mother, Maricela Mercado, 40, and the man she is with, Roman Cerratos, 39, are murder suspects in an investigation of a man who was found dead in the front seat of a White Audi that was parked behind 400 Block of East Carson Plaza Drive in the city Carson on April 16, 2019, the Sheriff's Department says.

They are considered armed and dangerous. Alora's family is concerned for her safety. If seen, call 911 immediately and alert local police or Sheriff's officials.

Authorities seek teen girl believed to be with couple suspected in Carson homicide

Authorities are seeking the public’s help to find a teenage girl who is believed to be with her mother and a man — both suspects in a Carson homicide investigation, detectives say.

Alora Benitez, 15, was last seen about 9 a.m. Wednesday in Torrance leaving with her mother, 40-year-old Maricela Mercado, and Roman Cerratos, 39, in a white 2013 BMW sedan. The four-door vehicle has a Nevada license plate that reads “MARIMAR,” Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said.

It is not clear where the group was headed. The suspects are believed to be close to the Mexico border, according to county officials in Nevada. Late Friday, authorities said the BMW sedan was found abandoned in the San Ysidro area, which is a major border crossing.

Vehicle linked to missing teen girl, said to be with suspected murderers, is found near Mexican border

A vehicle tied to a missing California teen and two murder suspects has been found near the Mexican border, KABC-TV reports.

Authorities searching for 15-year-old Alora Benitez located a vehicle on Friday in San Ysidro, a border town south of San Diego.

Investigators believe the car, a white 2013 BMW sedan, was driven by Benitez’s mother, Marciela Mercado, and her ex-husband, Roman Cerratos, both of whom are suspects in the murder of 32-year-old Jeffery Appel, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.

Appel was found dead Tuesday morning in the front seat of a car in a business park, according to KTLA-TV. Police have not publicly released how Appel died, but what looked like blood was visible on the outside of the Audi he was found in, the television station reports. A trail of blood could also be seen in the parking lot and a nearby street.

It was not immediately clear what relationship, if any, Mercado or Cerratos had with Appel.

FBI Joins Search for Missing 15-Year-Old Redondo Beach Girl Last Seen With Homicide Suspects

The FBI has joined the search for the missing 15-year-old Redondo Beach girl believed to be with her mother and her mother’s ex-husband, both of whom are homicide suspects and are considered armed and dangerous, the bureau said Wednesday, almost a month after an Amber Alert was issued for the girl.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the suspects’ arrests.

Family held a vigil for the teenager a few weeks after her disappearance and pleaded for her return.

“Alora, if you’re listening, if you see any of this: Make a run for it. Call 911. Get to a phone. Ask for help. Go where there’s a lot of people,” her father Julian Benitez Jr. said at the vigil.
