New video surfaces in missing 8-month-old case out of Indianapolis

Authorities in Indianapolis are still searching for a missing eight-month-old girl. The family of Amiah Robertson says she was last seen on Sunday, March 17th.

A sourced provided surveillance video to WISH. That video shows accounts from Sunday morning.

The neighbor that gave it to WISH says it shows Robert Lyons, Amber Robertson’s boyfriend, coming out of Amiah's babysitter's house on South Holmes Avenue.

The neighbor that provide this video told WISH that Lyons, Amber Robertson and Amiah had been living in a car behind the house

Amiah had just been reported missing the day before this video was taken.

Her family told us that house is where she was last seen.

In the video, Lyons is empty handed as he steps out of view of the camera, seconds later he is headed around the yard toward the rear of the house.

He goes out view of the camera again, this time for several minutes.

He reappears in the camera view walking south down an alley.

It then appears he is now carrying a trash bag.

A few minutes later Lyons comes back in the view of the camera, empty handed and with another man.

The two go through the front gate and out of the view of the camera.

The camera view doesn't show him going back inside.

A short time later, two Indianapolis Metro Police Officers show up at the house.

The police are not shown going into the house.

A few minutes later, Lyons and the other man come back into camera view carrying more bags.

Police arrested Lyons later on Sunday on charges unrelated to Amiah's disappearance.

Search for missing 8-month-old baby treated as homicide, Indianapolis Police say

Indianapolis police say the search for a missing 8-month-old baby is being treated as a homicide investigation.

Chief Bryan Roach called a news conference Saturday and expressed frustration over a lack of cooperation from people who should be able to help authorities. He says he's "angry," a week after Amiah Robertson was reported missing by her family.

The chief says, "Somebody knows the whereabouts."

Police and volunteers have been searching along the White River in Indianapolis, based on certain items found along the bank.

Asked if he believes Amiah is alive, Lt. Bruce Smith says investigators "hope for the best" but can't ignore the fact that the baby can't take care of herself.

Mother’s boyfriend named suspect in disappearance of missing 8-month-old

Police in Indianapolis have pinpointed the last time 8-month-old Amiah Robertson was seen alive.

Police say March 9, Amiah was with Robert Lyons, 20.

According to police, Lyons told the child’s mother, Amber Robertson, Amiah was with the babysitter.

Detectives are urging anyone with information on Lyons movements between 03/09/2019 and 03/16/2019, while he was driving a 1996 Maroon Isuzu Rodeo SUV in poor condition, between 1:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., to call the IMPD Homicide Office at (317)327-3475.

    March 9!?!?

I'm sick of mothers covering up for their boyfriends. Mom, if you did NOT see Amiah before/during your "hotel date", WHY would you say that you did? You just take his word for it that he took her to the babysitter a WEEK AGO? And you're okay with not seeing your baby for that long? And you think your babysitter is okay with having YOUR child for a WEEK?

And then you say crap like, "I was scared, worried on where she could be, if she is ok. I'm just hoping she is, and that she is safe. And I'm just…hoping she isn’t with someone that could do any harm to her."

I understand that he was abusive. But this is YOUR BABY! Get somewhere safe and call the dang police!

Baby Amiah Robertson Presumed Dead: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

The case of missing infant Amiah Robertson took a dramatic turn Saturday.

It was first reported that eight-month-old Robertson had been missing for a week. Now, Indianapolis Metro Police Chief Bryan Roach says she’s been missing since March 9 and this is a homicide investigation. Police said the suspect is not the mother, Amber Robertson, as many had speculated, but her boyfriend Robert Lyons who was last seen with the baby. Police had Lyons in custody for three days but he was released on Wednesday and now cannot find him.

The story that police now believe to be the facts, according to Det. Jeannie Burkhart is that on March 9 at around 1 p.m., Amiah was seen “alive and well” with Robert Lyons in south Indianapolis. He went back home at 10 that night without the baby. Police said “Amber gave permission for Amiah to stay with the babysitter until the following morning.” Lyons told family and police where they could find the baby but police checked those locations and did not find her and some locations he said they could find her “do not exist.” Police said that since March 10, Lyons “taunted” the mother on the whereabouts of the baby. The baby has not been seen since.

“It’s very concerning,” that Amber Robertson did not report her infant missing until a week after she was last seen, Lt. Bruce Smith said.

    1. Police Issued a Missing Child Alert Tuesday March 19, But Police Were Told She Had Actually Been Missing Since Thursday March 14. A Neighbor Saw Her With the Baby Friday Night ‘Speed-Walking’ Toward an Alley

Amber Robertson posted to one of her at least five Facebook pages, this one that uses the url logan.robertson, first on Sunday March 17 at 3:40 p.m. that her baby was missing. This coincides with the time Lyons was arrested. But police said she first told them the baby had been missing since the Thursday before.

Amber Robertson has gone on camera with at least two versions of what she believes happened to her baby.

Amber claims she gave the baby to Lyons to take to the babysitter but the babysitter told police the infant was not brought to her. Amber claimed she gave the baby to Lyons so she could go on a “date” with an ex; she has at least three former boyfriends in the past year, based on a cursory look at her many Facebook pages. It’s believed she been referring to Logan Hull, who is the father of her near-2-year-old son and he says, dad to baby Amiah. But he’s told local media he was “out-of-town.” She ended up partying at a Motel 6.

Her inconsistencies slowed down the initial investigation, police said.

    2. A Statewide Silver Alert Was Issued Saying Amiah Was in ‘Extreme Danger’ & May Need ‘Medical Care’ The Next Day, the Alert Was Canceled

    3. Cops Search Area Near White River Where ‘Items’ Were Found. Robertson Claimed She Found Her Baby’s & Boyfriend’s Stuff Near River. Divers Were Also Seen

Amber Robertson told media that she found items belonging to her baby and her boyfriend on a bank near the White River. She said she phoned in a tip to police.

“Although not verbally confirmed, it would appear boats & divers with IFD are here on scene where police got a tip about items at Sadie & McCarty. No one has confirmed this is related to missing baby, but police say they are doing due diligence,” it was reported.

    4. Investigators Are Turning All Stones Trying to Locate Amiah. Robertson Hired a Lawyer & Boyfriend Lyons Was Arrested & Jailed But Was Released Wednesday

    5. As Questions Swirl About Robertson, Amiah’s Grandparents Are Still Searching

Tammy Beatty gave cops surveillance tape that showed a truck with three people in it. She also said she saw Robertson and the baby on Friday night, the day after Robertson first said the baby went missing. Beatty said the baby “…had a short T-shirt on, probably some thin pajama pants, no jacket and it was cold. The mom was just holding her up [away from her body, instead of cradling her] and was speed walking with her.”

    could not agree more @SheWhoMustNotBeNamed
how could anyone love their partner particularly an abusive one more than they love their baby?

the abuse is not an excuse. not now.
tell the police the truth and they will protect you and bring justice for your baby.

    v. frustrating.

TIMELINE: The disappearance and search for baby Amiah

Below is a timeline of the events we know based on what IMPD detectives have released so far in the search.

    Saturday, March 9
    • This was the last day that Amiah's mother or anyone else police have spoken to remembers seeing Amiah Robertson alive. The child's mother told detectives that her boyfriend Robert Lyons had taken the infant "to the babysitter." These details were not actually released until a March 23 press conference with police . Lyons is believed to have been driving a 1996 maroon Isuzu Rodeo in "poor condition." Detectives believe Lyons was in the area of Rockville Road and South Mickley Avenue for an "extended period of time"during the day.
    • Detectives say Lyons returned around 10 p.m. to Amiah's mother but did not have the infant.
    Thursday, March 14
    • During the initial report to police, this was the day Amiah's mother told police she had last seen her infant. It is unclear what went on this day but it was later determined that her mother had not seen her for nearly a week before this time.
    Saturday, March 16
    • Police were called to a home in the 200 block of S. Holmes Avenue to take a missing person report for 8-month-old Amiah. Police say at the time the report was taken, family members told them they did not believe the baby was in danger.
    • Also that day, IMPD arrested a 20-year-old man from that same residence on a domestic, according to public police records. That man was preliminary charged of leaving the scene of an accident and criminal recklessness, according to those public records.
    Tuesday, March 19
    • During the course of their investigation, IMPD says conflicting statements from family members and additional information detectives learned raised their concerns for the welfare of the child. A formal release and missing person plea was issued around 2 a.m. by IMPD asking for the public's help to find her. Police also requested a Silver Alert be issued.
    • A Silver Alert was activated by Indiana State Police for Amiah around 11 a.m.
    • Later that day, detectives obtained a search warrant for the home in the 200 block of S. Holmes Avenue, where Amiah was first reported missing, so they could interview possible witnesses and collect any potential evidence that might help them locate the baby. Forensics were collected from the scene as a precautionary measure and to help with the search for Amiah, according to police.
    Wednesday, March 20
    • IMPD announced that they were working with the FBI in their search for Amiah. Detectives also tell Call 6 Investigates that they have reviewed clips of surveillance video that could aide detectives in the right direction. It is still unclear what those clips contain or if they are of any relevance to Amiah's disappearance.
    • As the investigation unfolded, detectives received a tip that items were seen along the bank of the White River that may be connected to Amiah. The location was less than a mile from the home where detectives were searching on Tuesday and where Amiah was last seen. Detectives responded and with the help of the Indianapolis Fire Department dive team searched the area. IMPD says their search was "inconclusive" at the time, but it was later determined that those items did, in fact, belong to Amiah.
    Thursday, March 21
    • The Silver Alert for Amiah Robertson was officially canceled at midnight, Thursday, March 21. Police say they canceled the Silver Alert because they were receiving "very few tips" on the hotline.
    • The search along the White River was expanded downstream but no new evidence was located.
    Friday, March 22
    • A group of community members went out to search the area around the White River for Amiah. They were "unsolicited," according to IMPD Chief Bryan Roach, but he thanked them for their help.
    Saturday, March 23
    • IMPD held a press conference to release new details about Amiah's disappearance. During the course of that interview, police revealed that Amiah's disappearance had been upgraded to a homicide investigation. Detectives also told investigators that they had been speaking to Lyons and he had told them several locations where the infant "should have been" but after checking each location they were unable to find the infant. Detectives also say some of the locations where Lyons sent them never existed.
    • Detectives also revealed during this press conference that Lyons had been "taunting" Amiah's mother about where her daughter could be.
    • During that press conference, police also issued a plea to the public for anyone who who may have seen Lyons or Amiah on March 9 or any day after to contact them.
    Sunday, March 24
    • Firefighters were called to a pond near the Mariner's Village Apartments around 7:15 p.m. in reference to a tip about Amiah's disappearance. Crews were able to complete a brief search before it become too dark to operate safely.
    Monday, March 25
    • Indianapolis police detectives and firefighters from multiple departments returned to the pond near the Mariner's Village Apartments around 9:30 a.m. Fire department boats used side-scanning sonar techology that creates a picture or an image of what is at the bottom of the pond to search the water.

Amiah Robertson missing: Police combing through leads, asking for help

Police said Amiah's family reported her as missing on March 16, seven days after she was last seen in the care of her mother's boyfriend Robert Lyons.

Police have called Lyons a suspect in the girls disappearance.

Now, police believe Amiah has actually been missing since March 9, when she was last seen with Lyons, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department disclosed at a press conference Saturday.
