    Angela Loraine Westberry

Last seen in Jacksonville, Florida on December 1, 1984

Vital statistics: White female. Born on July 13, 1967. Red hair, blue eyes. Was seventeen at the time.

Circumstances: She was last seen aboard a boat named Sea Fever with two males and a female, Theresa Hickman, who was eighteen at the time. The boat was last seen on December 14th, 1984, in the Cayman Islands. It is unknown whether Westberry was aboard the boat at the time. Classified as a Non-Family Abduction.

Theories: The case of Angela Westberry is a bizzare one, in more cases than one. She stepped on a boat and seemingly vanished. It would be easy to say that the boat sank and she was lost, along with the other passengers, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Why aren't the other passengers reported missing? If they survived a sinking or capsizing, wouldn't they tell Westberry's family that she was lost? And the case is classified as a Non-Family Abduction. Now, that is an overused label from the past, and perhaps Endangered Missing is more appropriate, but it still makes one wonder if the police suspect something and aren't telling us. One disturbing possibility is that Westberry was taken against her will by the crew of the boat. If that were the case, I'm sure they wouldn't stay in US waters. A clue to this case may lie in other countries logs, because they may have seen Sea Fever, somewhere. Of course, I know little about the boat, and it might not have been capable of such a voyage, even to a nearby location like South America. Along those lines is the idea she was murdered and cast out to the sea, where it would be nearly impossible to locate her remains. It's possible, but unlikely. Where did the boat go? She could have just chosen to vanish, but once again that does not explain the disappearance of the boat. The only key to this case is finding those men and the woman that Westberry was on the boat with. Since they were never reported missing, I suspect that they all returned or have kept in contact with family. If we can't locate them, and make them talk about Westberry, this case will remain unsolved.

If you have any information on Westberry's wherebouts, please e-mail For The Lost at this address. Or you may contact the Jacksonville Sherrif's Office at 904-630-0500. Any tips sent by e-mail will be kept confidential.

For quite a period of time, Theresa was actually listed as an accomplice instead of a victim. Theresa's disappearance date is actually six weeks later on January 16, 1985. I think there is probably information that hasn't been released to the public.

Thank you for the maps, Sunburst. That yacht traveled quite a distance from Jacksonville, Florida to the Cayman Islands. It wasn't even in the direction of the Bahamas where they were supposedly going.

If Customs in the Cayman Islands was able to verify that Sea Fever was there on December 14th, why don't they have records of the people onboard?
