An unidentified female was found on March 5, 1979 under the south end of Bahia Honda Bridge along the rocks. She is estimated to have been deceased for only a few hours before being found.

She is a white female between the ages of 16-19. She has brown to auburn, curly shoulder length hair and brown eyes. She stood about 5’5" tall and weighed about 110 pounds. Her right index finger had a noticeable scar. All other fingernails were well manicured.

The female was wearing blue jeans (size 30x32A) and a black tank top (size small).

The autopsy revealed that she was likely a smoker and showed signs of emphysema which might have caused severe coughing.

The female had some dental work completed. One of her upper middle teeth had a porcelain/metal crown. Several other teeth had fillings and some teeth had been removed leaving healed sockets.

The images above were completed by a NCMEC Forensic Artist and are a facial reconstruction depicting what the female may have looked like in life.

She seems very young to have developed emphysema and have several teeth pulled.

(Photo above is of the bridge from the February 3rd, 1979 Gazette out of Montreal)

According to the original reporting at the time:
    • Levi's jeans
    • black tank top
    • About 20 years old
    • 115 lbs
    • 5'5"
    • auburn hair
    • died 12-24 hours before she was found
    • woman's body showed no signs of a struggle or trauma
Note that some of this information doesn't completely match the NamUs profile. That doesn't mean that the original reporting was right and NamUs is not. In my experience, there's no way to tell but I just wanted people to be aware of these details from the March 7th, 1979 Miami News (page 5).

I completely agree. Even though she was a smoker, I don't believe I have ever heard of someone that young getting emphysema from it. Add the need for several tooth extractions and I am puzzled at the age estimate!

If she had arrived from a foreign country, perhaps the emphysema was from polluted air from a big city elsewhere.
    Tooth extractions from poor diet.

I feel horrible when anyone is not identified after passing but its just so unfathomable and heartbreaking with young people.
