“It’s worth looking into, otherwise we wouldn’t be doing it,” he told FOX 17. “We have to look into any kind of lead or potentiality because obviously Baby Kate has never been found so we would look into any kind of lead we got.”

Posma said there is nothing in their current investigation that indicates an obvious connection between Baby Kate’s disappearance and the Boston area, but said that doesn’t mean a connection isn’t possible.

“At this point we’re looking into it and if the pieces fall together, we’ll continue to go down that path,” he said. “We’ll put the information out and then we’ll wait for them to get back with us.”

WoW Father going on trial for murder:

A Mason County Circuit Court judge ruled Friday that prosecutors can pursue that charge against Sean Phillips. His daughter Katherine Phillips, known as Baby Kate, was last seen with him in the Ludington area.

Phillips is currently serving a prison sentence for unlawful imprisonment in the case. A previous murder charge filed against him in October 2013 had been dismissed.

In a hearing Friday, both sides presented oral summaries of their arguments about whether an open murder charge should be reinstated.

The prosecution mostly focused on a jail letter Phillips wrote, stating he left his daughter in a "peaceful place," and a statement Phillips made suggesting he could hide a body so no one could find it.

Defense attorney David Glancy told the judge the previous judge ruled correctly on the case. He argued the district judge did not commit an "abuse of discretion" in denying a murder trial.

Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola and Michigan Assistant Attorney General Donna Pendergast will continue to jointly handle the prosecution.

It is really frightening and infuriating that when an unidentified toddler is found in a trash bag, we can all come up with so many possible identities for the body. That is so sad.

As the tragic case of the body of a little girl stuffed in a trash bag on Deer Island in Boston Harbor captures national headlines and sends investigators on a hunt to identify the toddler, a Herald review reveals dozens of other remains found in Massachusetts are still shrouded in mystery.

There are at least 73 cases of unidentified remains found in the Bay State since 1974 — including 43 cases in the past decade alone, according to the federally funded database known as the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, or NamUs.

The mystery toddler — dubbed Baby Doe — is only the latest case to confound investigators

So she was left on shore in the garbage bag? wow. That narrows things down a bit. Are there cameras at the entrance, hopefully?

Authorities continue to try and identify the girl, who they believe is approximately 4 years old.

While there was some talk that Baby Doe might have floated from Canada, the district attorney’s office says her body would have been much more water-logged if that was the case.

In addition, physical test results do not indicate that the child ingested any type of Drano or beach, Wark added.

    Further toxicology tests will continue.

This is a new theory? I guess I assumed it was the theory all along.

Police work new theory in Baby Doe case

Police are working on the theory that the toddler girl whose body was discovered in Massachusetts was “placed” on the shoreline and “left” on the rocks, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Press Secretary Jake Wark.

While there was some talk that Baby Doe might have floated from Canada, the district attorney’s office says her body would have been much more water-logged if that was the case.

In addition, physical test results do not indicate that the child ingested any type of Drano or beach, Wark added.

Is the beach area open to cars at night? Hard to imagine someone walking along the beach carrying a big garbage bag and not being noticed.
