911 call: Violet Rhoden Taylor's death may have been suicide

The death of a Rhoden cousin initially was reported as a self-inflicted shooting, according to a 911 call released on Thursday.

The body of Violet Rhoden Taylor, 35, was found in the woods in the area of Lapperell and Stewart Hollow roads on June 11 after the Pike County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at 9:36 a.m.

"My cousin just shot herself," a woman told a dispatcher noting she was at a home on the 2600 block of Stewart Hollow Road but Taylor was "down the holler." The woman reports in the call "some guy" who had been with Taylor had said she'd shot herself.

The sheriff's office released a copy of the call Thursday in response to a records request made by the Chillicothe Gazette last week. Despite the passage of 10 days since the incident, an initial report has not been completed by the Pike County Sheriff's Office.

County Prosecutor Rob Junk said Taylor's death was by gunshot, but the investigation is still ongoing to determine whether it was self-inflicted or not.

Social media explodes, but no information in Rhoden murder case

Once again, the latest “news” regarding the infamous Rhoden family murders in 2016 appears to be a false alarm.

Despite an explosion of social media reports Thursday and Friday, a spokesperson for the Ohio Attorney General’s office Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Dan Tierney told the Daily Times there have been no arrests made in connection with the grisly two-year-old murders.

The latest round of rumors appears to have been sparked by a local Facebook news feed. That feed was referenced in part of a Facebook page stateing in part “2 arrested in connection with the Rhoden family murders … The 2 arrested were Billy Wagner Sr. and Jake Wagner.”

At the time this story was written, the post had attracted 35 comments and been shared 750 times.

The page contains no personal information.

In comments on his own post, he admits the story had not surfaced on any radio or TV news outlet, but he did reference the Facebook news page mentioned earlier which apparently first posted news about arrests in connection with the long unsolved murders. His initial post appeared sometime late Thursday.

Rhoden family autopsy reports show 8 killings were methodical and vicious
    Published 9:19 p.m. ET Sept. 19, 2018 | Updated 5:54 a.m. ET Sept. 20, 2018

CINCINNATI – Autopsy reports released Wednesdayshow the 2016 massacre of eight people from an Ohio family was methodical, calculated and vicious.

It now appears that 40-year-old Christopher Rhoden Sr., the family patriarch, was among the first killed. The reports indicate he was awake when he was confronted by at least one person with a gun. Among the nine gunshot wounds he suffered was an apparent defensive wound to his right forearm that shattered bone. Also, at least one bullet went through a door before hitting him, according to the reports.

In addition to the bullet wound to his forearm, Rhoden also was shot in the torso and cheek. He was found in the back bedroom of a trailer at 4077 Union Hill Road in Pike County, east of Cincinnati.

Also found dead in the trailer was his cousin, Gary Rhoden, 38. He was shot twice in the head and once in the face. With one of the shots, the reports indicate the gun was pressed against the side of his head, leaving a "muzzle stain."

Rhoden family execution-style murders: 4 family members arrested in 2016 Ohio killings
    Fox News

Four members of a family have been arrested in connection with the brutal, execution-style murders of seven adults and one teen at a home in Ohio in 2016, the state's attorney general announced Tuesday.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said the suspects, a husband, wife, and their two adult sons, were arrested in connection with the Rhoden family murders.

"Following an extensive investigation by my office’s #OhioBCI and the #PikeCounty Sheriff’s Office, we have arrested four people accused of the murders of eight people in Pike County on April 22, 2016," DeWine said on

Four members of a family with close business and family relations with the eight members of another family slain in April of 2016 in Pike County, Ohio, have been arrested and charged in connection with those deaths.

Angela Wagner, her husband George "Billy" Wagner, and their two sons, George Wagner and Edward "Jake" Wagner have each been charged in the gruesome deaths of the Rhoden family and Hannah Gilley.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Pike County Sheriff Charles S. Reader and Pike County Prosecutor Robert Junk will host a news conference at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine had said previously the investigation was laser-focused on the Wagner family, but he previously declined to call them suspects or persons of interest. And neither he nor Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader has provided details about why investigators spent two days searching the Wagners' Ohio property in 2017. Nor did they say at the time what prompted a news release asking the public for information on the Wagners.

Hannah (one of the murdered) and Jake (0ne of the accused) had a child together. Seriously, all this killing over custody? Is that the motive?

Dewine “Investigators discovered the last piece of physical evidence on October 30th of this year.”
    This was about Sophia's custody.
Custody documents were forged by the Wagners.
The two grandmothers were also arrested for particlpating in the cover-up.
