‘We are keeping hope alive’: Young mom mysteriously vanishes, family desperate for answers
    December 2018

A family is desperate for answers more than a year after a Michigan mother-of-four reportedly vanished from a Flint gas station.

On the night of July 14, Vibert reportedly left the home after getting into an argument with her boyfriend. Laura Nail, the girlfriend of the missing mother’s ex-husband, told CrimeOnline that Vibert’s current boyfriend claimed she was screaming and throwing things, incensed because her children weren’t able to visit. Nail explained that the mother-of-four was denied visitation because her home lacked running water due to a broken well.

Vibert was reportedly spotted at two gas stations before she vanished without a trace. After leaving the home, Vibert went to a Marathon Gas on Miller Road, somewhere she was familiar with as she often went there to charge her phone or use the bathroom, according to Nail.

Nail said surveillance video from the Marathon gas station reportedly showed a “panicked, anxious” Vibert with blood on the inside of her right forearm. Her boyfriend allegedly claimed that during their argument, Vibert grabbed a knife and cut her arm.

The mother-of-four is said to have asked a man for a ride to a restaurant and left the gas station with him. Vibert is said to have visited a local adult entertainment club where she previously worked as a shot girl. According to Nail, employees said she arrived in “pretty bad shape” and left with the man who gave her a ride at the Marathon hours earlier.

The trail goes cold after Vibert’s spotting at a Mobile gas station at 2:45 a.m. on July 15. Nail told CrimeOnline that surveillance cameras there appear to catch her stumbling while holding onto shelves to stay upright. Afterward, Nail said she was filmed walking in the parking lot—with the man who she had gotten multiple rides from traveling in the opposite direction.

It wasn’t until days later when police reportedly found a bag of Vibert’s personal belongings in a ditch located not far from her Flint home. Nail said there’s speculation that the mother-of-four was asking a friend for a ride and had planned to retrieve the bag but never did.

This past summer, Vibert’s mother, Bobbi Jo Stone, told WNEM that she fears her daughter was taken against her will. In her conversation with CrimeOnline this week, Stone revealed a “very tenuous stressful relationship” between her daughter and her boyfriend at the time which entailed physical abuse at the hands of the boyfriend.

“Oftentimes when her friends would reach out to offer her assistance he would threaten them with bodily harm if they helped her,” Stone said of the boyfriend, adding that Vibert called her crying several times.

Stone, who lives in New York, went on to tell CrimeOnline that her daughter wouldn’t answer her phone for weeks after she would offer help. Stone also claimed her daughter was also dealing with the reemergence of friends who Stone described as problematic.

“She also had reconnected with some people from her past that were abusive and manipulative to her and she struggled with her relationship with those individuals,” she said.

Stone said there are no new updates regarding her daughter’s case. However, she did call attention to the man who allegedly picked Vibert up, alleging that he was in possession of her phone for six days before charging and turning it on—alerting police. However, Stone mentioned the man, who she called the “guy with the red Aztek,” was cleared as a suspect in her daughter’s disappearance.

    Details of Disappearance

Vibert was last seen at a Marathon Gas Station on Miller Road in Flint Township, Michigan on July 17, 2017. She got into a red Pontiac Aztek driven by an African-American male at approximately 1:00 a.m.

After her disappearance, the man contacted police and cooperated with the investigation; he has not been named as a suspect in her case. She may have been seen talking to someone in a green or teal Ford Ranger S-10 pickup truck in the gas station parking lot, but this has not been confirmed. After her disappearance, her bag was found in a ditch near her home. Her phone had been left behind in the red Aztek.

Vibert left behind four children. She had gotten divorced shortly before her disappearance and had a rocky relationship with both her ex-husband and her new boyfriend. Her mother stated she maintained regular contact with her family, however, and seemed happy.

Investigators are not sure whether she is voluntarily missing. Her case remains unsolved.

Mom of missing woman: If you call for me, I will come for you

Brianna Vibert, a mother of four, went missing in Flint on July 15, 2017.

“She had a smile that would light up the room,” said Bobbi Jo Stone, Vibert’s mother.

It has been two years since that smile disappeared without a trace. Vibert was 24-years-old when she went missing.

She was last seen at the Mobil gas station on Saginaw Street in Flint. It was about 2:45 a.m. when she was seen walking northbound toward Atherton Road.

“Brianna, no matter where you are, no matter what has happened, if you call for me, I will come for you,” Stone said.

Stone said they have not heard any new tips.

When asked if she thinks her daughter is still alive, Stone said that’s a difficult question.

“It’s a question I struggle with because I bounce between she is and she isn’t. Thinking she isn’t makes me feel guilty, like I’ve lost hope. But I also have my head in reality and realize when someone’s been missing for two years, the likelihood that she’s alive is slim,” Stone said.

It is even harder for Vibert’s children who are getting old enough to start wondering what happened to their mom.

“Questions I can’t answer. Questions nobody has been able to answer and it’s heartbreaking to watch this little 8-year-old girl grow up wondering, ‘would mommy be proud of me,’” Stone said. “She has a lot of questions, a lot of fears about what happened to mommy.”

If you know where Vibert is, call Flint Township Police.
