A large reward is being offered for information into the triple murder of a family in Deniliquin ten years ago.
The NSW Government is offering $250,000 for information leading to the conviction of person or persons responsible for the shooting murder of 38-year-old Steven Brooks, his wife Barbara, 34, and her son 13-year-old Stacey Willoughby.
On Thursday March 16, 2000 the bodies of Mrs Brooks and Stacey were found in their family car in the Millewa State Forest, 55km south of Deniliquin.
Four days later, the body of Steven Brooks was found in bushland 500 metres from where the bodies of his wife and stepson were earlier located. All three had been shot to the head with a .22 calibre weapon.
The family were last seen sitting in a car with an unknown man in Deniliquin's main street, the afternoon before their bodies were found. The identity of the man has never been established.

What a creepy case. Who on earth would want an entire family dead, like that.

    Article from 2012:

Police say a triple murder near Deniliquin 12 years ago could still be solved with public help.

Homicide Squad Inspector Hans Rupp says he has no doubt whoever was responsible is from the Deniliquin area.

Just going by what was said in the article.... I'm supposing the police are relying on the public for further information. I have to wonder how they have "no doubt" the killer is a local. Maybe they have a POI in the area.

Hopefully there's some more info to be found in the media.

I wonder if the community is still talking about the case and fliers are still posted around?

Not sure, yet, will look it up though.

To be honest, I am shocked at how little publicity this case had received nationally, considering it was an entire family murdered. It seems police are still on it, so hopefully there'll be more in the media to dig up.

That's what I was thinking too!!! They seem like a lovely family and I'd love to get some attention out there in order to help resolve this horrific crime!!!

    GONE - The Brooks Family
    December 2018

It was an execution-style killing of the worst kind, with a teenage boy murdered in the most violent of circumstances.

The triple murder of the Brooks family also left two young girls orphaned.

It has been 18 years since the bodies of 34-year-old Barbara Brooks and her 13-year-old son Stacey Willoughby were found in their family car in the Millewa State Forest near Mathoura on March 16, 2000.

Four days later, the body of 38-year-old Steven Brooks was found in bushland 500m from where the bodies of his wife and stepson were earlier located.

All three had been shot to the head with a .22 calibre weapon.

Despite extensive investigations by the Homicide Squad at the time, no-one has ever been charged over the family’s murder.

The murder remains under the responsibility of the Homicide Squad’s Unsolved Homicide Unit.

‘‘Members of the community are reminded that a $250,000 reward remains in place for the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the family’s murders.’’

She said annual appeals to find her family’s killer were welcome, but said she does not feel the NSW Police Force is doing enough to solve the murders.

‘‘It’s good that they haven’t forgotten about it, but in a way they have given up because they only reach out to the public on the anniversary once a year,’’ she said.

‘‘They should be going over the evidence again. Maybe they left something out, or missed something.’’
