Family members plea for help after 16-year-old abducted, possibly shot in Orange County

The family of an Orange County teenager is searching for answers after their son was abducted and possibly shot at Friday evening.

An Amber Alert went out around 7 p.m. after Winter Garden police said Bruce Hagans, 16, was taken.

Officers said they have few leads as his family continues to ask the community for help.

“Every time my eyes would close, I would see my son, that smile on his face,” said Bruce Haggins.

Police said the teen is 6 feet, 2 inches and was wearing a gray shirt when he was taken by a man with dreadlocks driving a dark gray Infiniti G-37.

The incident occurred on Lincoln Terrace after reports of shots fired in a vehicle, officers said.

“We would talk about different things, and he would tell me about how he was going to do some changes in his life and he wanted to go back to playing football,” Haggins said.

Haggins said more than anything, he just wants to have those talks again.

“Anybody out there that's listening to my voice and see my face, please,” Haggins said. “If you know where my son is, please say something, tell somebody before it's too late.”

An Amber Alert is still in effect for a teenager missing from Orange County since Friday morning.

Winter Garden police say Hagans was possibly shot on Lincoln Terrace Friday morning and then abducted.

Officials said the teen was abducted by a light-skinned black male with dreadlocks who was driving a dark gray Infiniti G37.

Friends and family held a candlelight vigil for Hagans Saturday night.

Family of Orange County teen at center of Amber Alert 'praying for closure'

The family of a missing Orange County teen is hoping for tips in the case to locate their loved one.

Witnesses reported seeing him being shot and driven away in a silver Infiniti sedan on Lincoln Terrace.

Deborah Fryer, Hagans' aunt tells News 6 that she's praying for an update in the case.

"We just wish someone would tell us, so we could have closure," Fryer said.

Fryer said that Hagans was always full of energy, and even taught himself to play drums in the church band.

"He was a big and tall, but he was just like a child. He had a big heart of a 5-year-old. He was a goofy child," Fryer said. "It's been a sad time for us ever since."

Fryer said that her nephew never left the house without telling his family how much they meant to him.

"He would say,' 'I love you all, I'll see you all later.' He always did it, every day. We just wish we could hear that now," Fryer said.

Fryer also said Hagans was close with his young cousins.

"They ask everyday, 'Are we going to find BJ?' And it's sad because we have no answer," Fryer said.

Family members said that they know someone out there has the answers they need.

Winter Garden police said Monday that there were no new updates in the case.

Teen at center of Amber Alert found dead in shallow grave, police say
1 person in custody, more arrests likely

An Amber Alert was issued on May 31 for 16-year-old Bruce Hagans Jr. after witnesses told Winter Garden police that he had been abducted by a light-skinned black male with dreadlocks who was driving a dark gray Infiniti G37. The vehicle was later found in Sanford.
Chief of Police Steve Graham said Friday that Luis Rivera Sr. was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence.
    Luis Rivera Sr.

The case is rapidly evolving and the chief said he is confident more charges will be filed against Rivera and more arrests will be coming.

Investigators have not positively identified the person seen driving away with Hagans the day the Amber Alert was issued.

"What happened to him, he didn't deserve," Hagans father, Bruce Hagans Sr., told News 6.

The teen's father had a message for the people who he said claimed to be his son's friends but ultimately didn't help with the investigation.

"That was totally wrong, the way you treated Bruce," he said. "They're going down."

Winter Garden police have confirmed that a body found in East Orange County is a missing teenager.

Bruce Hagans disappeared this past Friday. He was seen in the Lincoln Terrace neighborhood last Friday getting into a sedan and then witnesses reported seeing a struggle, followed by gunshots.

The two scenes, in which his body was found and where the abduction allegedly occurred, are about 40 miles apart, officials said.

Winter Garden police started investigating after the body was found in Wedgefield.

Winter Garden Police Department officers said a tip led them to Robertson Street.

Over the past week, officers from Winter Garden had been looking for the 16-year-old.

Winter Garden officers confirmed an arrest had been made in Hagans' disappearance. It was made just as the search was underway in Wedgefield
