Jane Doe, a black female whose partially decomposed body was found by hunters on December 8, 1979. She was laying in the woods approximately 2,000 feet from what is now Hooper Road, near the Hooper Hill section of Leland. A tan sweater, red scuffs over knee-high stockings and black slacks or pajama pants were found with her body. She wore a gold Snoopy watch with a yellow band on her left wrist. Jane Does is believed to have been between 42 and 55 when she died. Her weight could not be calculated but she was about 5-feet-4-inches tall.

Investigators say they were not able to determine her cause of death, and say to this day she has not been reported missing.
