Nine-year-old boy missing out of Evangeline Parish

Hundreds are searching for a 9-year-old boy who went missing out of Evangeline Parish Friday.

According to emergency officials, Bryson Thibodeaux left his home in the Point Blue/Chataignier area around noon.

Bryson left wearing a yellow and gray-striped long-sleeve shirt and boxers. He has short hair and weighs about 42 pounds.

Bryson’s father says as he was bringing their dogs into the house after letting them outside, he thinks that’s when Bryson walked out the front door. He says he wasn’t aware because the alarm was already going off from him opening another door to the house for the dogs.

Bryson’s parents are asking anyone in the area to be on the lookout for Bryson and to check around their homes.

Volunteers needed to help search for missing Evangeline Parish boy

Authorities in Evangeline Parish are asking for the public’s help in bringing home a missing 9-year-old boy.

The Ville Platte Police Department posted information and images of Bryson Thibodeaux, who left his home in the Point Blue area at around noon on Friday.

Thibodeaux has short hair, weighs 42 pounds and was last seen leaving his home wearing a t-shirt and boxer shorts. Authorities said the boy was last seen not wearing a jacket or shoes.

“Please let’s keep our focus on the task at hand which is finding the missing child. Speculation on the reasons of his disappearance will not aid in finding him,” according to the post from the police department.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriffs Office is calling on volunteers to help search for the boy. Organizers are meeting at the Blue Junction Store on Chataignier Road. Authorities are also asking the public to check their properties and vehicles for the boy.

HE IS NINE YEARS OLD. HE HAS AUTISM. STOP THIS "RUNAWAY" CRAP.

    Runaway Juvenile

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s assistance in locating a runaway juvenile.

On Friday, December 28, 2018 the reporting person (Minette Thibodeaux) stated her son Bryson Thibodeaux (DOB 1-19-2009) left his residence from the 3400 block of Chataignier Road without his father’s permission or knowledge. He was last seen at 12:30 pm. It is unknown as to what Bryson was wearing when he left the residence. A photo of Bryson is included below. The reporting person stated her son has done this in the past but was always located shortly after. It is paramount that Bryson is located quickly due to his medical condition of Autism.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office has teamed up with several agencies both local and afar in an effort to locate Bryson. The Cajun Navy arrived earlier and is on scene conducting a search in the Chataignier/Point Blue area along with the other agencies.

Oh my! Parts of the comments to that first post are really disturbing.

If he's truly not living with his biological parents, was he out of foster care facility?

I've seen both that he was recently adopted, and that he was living with a foster family. Not sure which is correct.
Either way, the consensus seems to be that he came from a pretty rough home life. Which could explain his small stature. (Assuming the given vitals are correct at 3’10” and 47 pounds, average for a 6-7 year old.) Could also explain his "autistic-like behaviors" that may or may not be autism.

Either way, he left home wearing a light shirt and boxer shorts. Tonight is rainy and cold. Hope he's got some shelter or with someone safe.

    A bit more info...

Cajun Navy finds missing boy, parents arrested

According to his adoptive father Paul Thibodeaux, Bryson was last seen by his father on Friday about 11:15 a.m. when he was coming back into their house after letting their dogs out.

A source reported that during the search for Bryson the adoptive parents did not actively participate in the search efforts.

“They never left the command area to go out and search. The only time they left was to go home and go to bed” the source who was there said.

Shortly before 2:00 a.m. Sunday, more than 36 hours after he was discovered to be missing, Bryson was found safe and unharmed by members of America’s Cajun Navy hiding under a bed at a neighbor’s house.

A source who wishes to remain anonymous says that Bryson made his way back and forth between hiding under the bed in the neighbor’s house and hiding under his own house.

It has been reported that law enforcement officials found the living conditions in the Thibodeaux home to be deplorable and inhumane.

Another source who wants to remain anonymous said that Bryson and his sister Haley, 8, were sleeping on urine and feces soaked mattresses and both of the children appeared to be malnourished.

Sources also state that several reports have been made to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services from the school and a pediatrician who noticed the malnourishment.

Bryson and his sister were removed from their biological mother’s, care by DCFS more than five years ago and put into foster care.

They have bounced around between foster homes before being placed with the Thibodeaux’s who eventually adopted them. Photos taken of the children before they were adopted show them healthy and weighing more.

Shortly after being found DCFS once again took custody of both Bryson and his sister and they were placed in a new foster home, with only a Wal-Mart bag of belongings.

Several hours after Bryson was found his adoptive parents were both arrested and charged with cruelty to juveniles. They were both booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail and an arraignment judge set their bonds at $35,000 each.

The Evangeline Parish Jail was contacted and we were told that although arrest records and booking mug shots are public information, no further details would be released at this time.

People who choose to adopt, and then do this to their children, are the absolute worst.
To give a child hope that they finally have a loving home and a real family. And then this.
I hope that Bryson and his sister can find a true loving place to call home.

Agreed! I don't even understand why they go through all the trouble because they obviously don't like children. Is it for the money? Did they get money after adoption?

    Regarding adoption subsidy payments;
In Louisiana, adoptive families receive $11.97/day for a child age 6-12 as well as $258 per month for children with special needs. (Link)
Also, a $12,970 Federal income tax credit per child. (Link)
