I can buy that he was insane. GUILTY but mentally ill. However I believe in "criminally insane" which means he may have been insane but he was and is dangerous and knew that what he was doing was not right. But that is not a "get out of jail free card", that is a "get your butt to a maximum security prison, get some mandatory medication and STAY there" kinda situation. If he is ever "sane" again, he still needs to be there. The danger is too great and he has killed to many.

Gah! "We've reached a verdict but we're not gonna tell you for 2 hours."
Living in the day and age of instant information can be frustrating sometimes, lol.

The nine-woman, three-man jury decided Holmes was not insane in the shootings at a screening of a Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises," in Aurora, near Denver, on July 20, 2012. He was found guilty of all 24 counts of first-degree murder, 140 counts of attempted murder and similar counts and one explosives count. <snip> (short article, wanted to be safe in re: copyright)

James Holmes jury to announce sentence today: Death or life in prison
By Michael Martinez, Sara Weisfeldt and Ana Cabrera, CNN

Centennial, Colorado (CNN) A jury will announce its verdict Friday on whether James Holmes should be executed or spend life in prison for committing mass murder in a Colorado movie theater that became one of the worst shootings in U.S. history.

The jury reached a sentencing verdict after deliberating almost seven hours since late Thursday, and the court will announce the jury's sentence at 7 p.m. ET.

Holmes killed 12 people and wounded 70 more in a movie theater in the Denver suburb of Aurora in July 2012. He was convicted last month of 24 counts of first-degree murder -- two for each of the victims slain in the shooting. The convictions initiated proceedings on whether he should receive the death penalty....
