DEVELOPING: 1 Dallas Cop Has Non-Survivable Injury, Other Cop Shot In Face
    [IMG]

A male officer shot in the head has non-survivable injuries, and a female officer was shot in the face.

Dallas, TX - A female Dallas police officer was shot in the face Tuesday and is in critical condition, and a 27-year-old male officer was shot in the back of the head and will not survive his injuries.

Another person working security was also shot and is also in critical condition, and it's not clear at this time if that person was an off-duty police officer.

Multiple news outlets report that the male officer had died, but WFAA advises that the officer is mortally wounded and is only being kept alive until his mother can arrive at the hospital to say goodbye.

The incident happened at the Home Depot in the 11,000 block of Forest Central Drive just before 4:30 p.m.

The security officer called police for a shoplifting suspect at the store with a theft warrant. Two Dallas PD officers arrived and there was a confrontation where the Dallas PD officers and the security person were shot.

All three were transported to Presbyterian Hospital in extremely critical condition.

An active manhunt is underway for the shooter. Police have identified that suspect as Armando Juarez.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the officers and their families.

Indiana officer, homicide suspect killed after shootout

    Today

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — An Indiana officer was killed Friday evening in an exchange of gunfire between police and a homicide suspect, who barricaded himself inside an apartment complex and later died from injuries sustained during the shootout, authorities said.

Terre Haute police spokesman Ryan Adamson said the police officer’s investigation of a homicide led him the apartment complex on the city’s south side. Authorities did not reveal when the homicide under investigation occurred.

Adamson said the suspect in that homicide opened fire when he was approached by four investigators, wounding the officer who was later pronounced dead at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. No additional information was immediately available on the male officer who was killed.

“It is another tragic loss for the Wabash Valley and the Terre Haute Police Department,” Indiana State Police spokesman Joe Watts said in announcing the officer’s death.

Terre Haute Police Chief John Plasse said the suspect was wounded in a shootout with officers from the city and other agencies, then barricaded himself inside the building. The wounded suspect was treated by medics who responded to the scene, but the suspect later died, Plasse said.

The suspect’s identity wasn’t immediately released.

During the standoff officials called the area dangerous and urged residents to avoid it. Watt said state police will conduct an investigation into the events leading up to the fatal shooting.

The death of the police officer is the first of officer with the Terre Haute Police Department since July 11, 2011. That is when Officer Brent D. Long was killed while serving an arrest warrant with a U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force.

The 34-year-old Long worked for the department for six years.

Florida deputy shot in head while responding to dispute involving cat has died

    By Nicole Darrah

Deputy William J. Gentry, Jr., of the Highlands County Sheriff's Office in Florida, died Monday after being shot on Sunday while responding to a dispute involving a cat. (Officer Down Memorial Page)

Gentry, alongside a deputy-in-training, had responded to a dispute between neighbors in Lake Placid over a cat that had been shot, allegedly by 69-year-old suspect Joseph Edward Ables.

The deputy approached Ables, who then shot Gentry in the head just before 8 p.m., according to Sheriff Paul Blackman. The deputy was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers.

Neither Gentry nor the training officer exchanged gunfire with Ables, Blackman said.

Ables, a convicted felon with an apparent history of violence toward law enforcement, was taken into custody at the scene. He has been charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, attempted first-degree murder without premeditation, resisting an officer with violence, violation of probation and tampering with evidence.

Baltimore County police officer shot, killed in line of duty

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. -- A Baltimore County police officer has died after she was shot Monday afternoon while responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle in suburban Perry Hall, according to Maryland Governor Larry Hogan. A Baltimore County Police Department spokesperson confirmed the officer would have been a four-year veteran of the force in July.

Shawn Vinson, the police department's spokesman, said law enforcement agencies are searching for at least one suspect who is possibly still armed. The officer hasn't been identified and an official cause of death won't be determined until an autopsy is performed.

Ugh! She was shot AND run over?

Witnesses: Frantic effort to save officer who was run over
    David Mcfadden, Associated Press
    Updated 4:17 pm, Monday, May 21, 2018

TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Heavily armed police swarmed into a suburban Baltimore community where a female officer was fatally injured Monday, searching for at least one armed suspect after witnesses reported hearing a pop and seeing the officer run over by a Jeep.

The witnesses described seeing the badly injured officer on the ground as several residents tried to keep her alive, but she was subsequently declared dead at a hospital.

Tony Kurek told The Associated Press his adult son was outside in the family's yard Monday afternoon in the northeast Baltimore County community of Perry Hall when the son saw the officer with her gun drawn, confronting the occupants of a Jeep.

"The next thing he heard was a pop, and he saw the Jeep take off and run right over her," Kurek said.

When they catch Wiggins , LE should take a DNA sample from him, dead or alive, to compare to Bridge Guy in Abby and Libby's case. Just saying......including the little bags/lines under his eyes.
