Massachusetts police officer, bystander shot dead with officer's pistol

Suspect Emanuel Lopes could be arraigned for murder in the hospital bed where he is recovering from wounds sustained during that gunfight, David Traub, a spokesman for the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office, said in a statement. Officials identified the officer as Michael Chesna, 42, and said the name of the other victim, an elderly woman struck and killed by a bullet that came through the window of her home, would be released after her next of kin were notified.

Strangely, after the video was released, and she lost two jobs, she decided she wants to meet the cop in person to apologize.

Police Officer Reaches $65k Settlement in Racism Suit
    Nicole Rojas

A white police officer in Michigan has reached a settlement with the City of Hastings after he reported being a victim of racial discrimination.

Sergeant Cleon Brown said the harassment began in 2016 after an online DNA test at Ancestry.com revealed he is 18 percent African. Brown, a 19-year veteran with the Hastings Police Department, said his colleagues whispered “Black Lives Matter” to him, and his police chief referred to him as “Kunta,” a character in the Alex Haley novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family.

“It was almost like a disgraced type of reaction that I got from them, ‘Why are you proud of this type of thing?’” he told WDIV in May 2017....

Jordan Hancock, son of the Denver mayor, called an officer a host of obscenities during a traffic stop for speeding. His behavior was shameful & he was certain his political privilege would "take care"of the ticket.

What law enforcement puts up with!

Jury finds getaway driver guilty in 38-year-old Hammond cop killing

A jury found James Hill guilty Friday evening on two counts in the 1980 shooting death of a Hammond police officer.

Hill’s five-day trial concluded nearly 38 years after Officer Lawrence Pucalik was shot and killed during an armed robbery in Hammond.

The jury deliberated for more than four hours Friday before finding Hill, 55, guilty of murder in perpetuation of robbery and attempted robbery. Hill was found not guilty of murder.

Hill was handcuffed and taken into custody Friday evening. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 3.

2 held after Covington officer shooting were juveniles
    11 and 15 years old

the juveniles were not involved in the shooting of Officer Matt Cooper, who was shot in the head. They were, however, involved in the shoplifting. Both were released to their parents. Charges are pending.

Officer Cooper, a 34-year-old married father of two young children, is being treated at WellStar Atlanta Medical Center.

“Matt’s condition hasn’t changed,” Covington police said Tuesday in a Facebook post. “He is still listed in serious condition. Officer Cooper will be evaluated again this morning by a vascular surgeon to prepare for a procedure to remove the bullet.”

The bullet is lodged in Cooper’s carotid artery, according to authorities.

The man accused of shooting Cooper, 21-year-old Aaron Demonta Fleming, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the GBI said. Fleming was allegedly exiting the store with a bag when Cooper and other officers arrived. The shoplifters were stealing bandannas from the store and ran across the street behind another shopping center with Cooper in pursuit. Several shots were fired and Cooper was hit.

IMO Bandanas, huh? Gangs cannot afford to buy $1 bandanas? The only thing at Walmart less expensive is a banana. So, 3 thieves run out of the store, one shooting at cops, & Officer Cooper is now fighting for his life?

Did the juveniles' parents know where their kids were & that they were hanging out with a 21 year-old? Was he a relative ot "trusted family friend?" What is appropriate punishment for the kids? Are parents responsible for criminal actions of minor children?

I'm just stunned that an 11-year-old was involved! I hope he's young enough, though, to get his life turned around before his criminal behavior escalates.

Stealing bandanas .... makes me think they were planning something like a bank heist.

:praying: for Officer Cooper. May his surgery be successful and may he recover fully.

    ***Update on Officer Matt Cooper

Matt is still in serious condition with the bullet lodged against his carotid artery. It. The medical team at Atlanta Medical is now transferring Matt to Grady Hospital . Matt had a good night last night. We were just informed that he mouthed the words "I love you" to his wife who has not left his side. The nurse asked him, "did you just tell her I love you?" And he nodded yes. Prayers are working and Matt is fighting hard! The outpouring of love and concern for our officer is overwhelming ! #prayingforofficercooper.
