I do so agree with you. I still am really incensed that the sack of garbage changed the last name of Dan’s children.

IMO Sack of garbage is the nicest thing anyone can say about her.

Like Mike Williams' daughter who was very young when her dad was taken, Dan Markel's sons will someday find truths on the internet. All the lies they were told & betrayals by surviving "parents" will be revealed.

The Dan Markel Case: The Markels Break Their Silence
If you've been following this case, tune in to Dateline NBC on Friday night.

    at 10:42 AM
Ruth and Phil Markel (Dateline NBC)

Since the July 2014 murder of Professor Dan Markel, we’ve heard from a number of people. We’ve heard from his ex-wife, Wendi Adelson. We’ve heard from her family, which some law enforcement officials suspect of involvement in the brutal killing. We’ve heard from Luis Rivera, one of the two accused hit men — who has pleaded guilty to murdering Markel, and who has accused others of participating in the plot.

We have heard little from two of the people most affected by this tragedy: Dan Markel’s parents, Phil and Ruth Markel. In January of this year, they issued a brief statement through their lawyer, Orin Snyder of Gibson Dunn. But we haven’t heard from them in any interviews — entirely understandable, given the heartbreak they have been through (and continue to endure; as noted in their statement, they have not been allowed to see their grandsons, despite their repeated pleas, for more than two years).
That’s about to change. On Friday, April 13, at 9 p.m. (EDT), Dateline NBC will air an episode about the case:

When a young, beloved Florida law professor is shot, his family, friends and police are baffled. A complicated investigation that draws national attention leads police to a surprising theory of the crime. In an emotional interview, the victim’s family speaks out for the first time. Dennis Murphy reports Friday, April 13 at 9/8c on NBC.

The producers were very thorough and interviewed many people for the episode (including Orin Snyder, prosecutor Georgia Cappleman, and me). But the most important interviewees were the Markels, who bravely relive that terrible day on camera — and express their hope, shared by so many, that their son’s killers will finally be brought to justice.

Dan Markel murder suspect appears in court without attorney
    • Jun 19, 2018 Updated 3 hrs ago
Sigfredo Garcia (Source: Leon County Sheriff's Office)

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - We've learned a hearing scheduled for Tuesday morning for one of the accused suspects in the murder of an FSU professor did not happen as planned.

Sigfredo Garcia is charged with first degree murder along with conspiracy and solicitation to commit murder.

He along with Katherine Magbanua and Luis Rivera are accused of shooting and killing FSU law professor Dan Markel at his home back in July 2014.

Court documents say that the state wants to combine Garcia's case with Magbanua.

In October 2016, Rivera pleaded guilty to Markel's murder and was sentenced to 19 years in prison. The hearing, set for Tuesday morning at 10:30, technically happened but no official business was discussed.

That's because Garcia's attorney did not show up. The judge said the attorney was supposed to be present at the pretrial hearing, but “decided not to show up.”

When the judge asked Garcia why, he said his attorney was flying in Tuesday night for Wednesday's motion hearing.

Garcia is scheduled back in court Wednesday for a motion hearing and a second pre-trial hearing on Thursday. He is scheduled for trial July 9.

Dan Markel murder: Merging of suspects' trials could prove problematic for evidence
    Karl Etters, Tallahassee Democrat Published 7:07 p.m. ET June 20, 2018 | Updated 8:09 p.m. ET June 20, 2018

Prosecutors may not be able to use key statements they say help connect two people to the murder-for-hire plot to kill Florida State law professor Dan Markel.

Sigfredo Garcia and Katherine Magbanua will be tried together after prosecutors succeeded in getting their murder, conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation to commit murder cases joined Wednesday.

But now statements made after the murder was committed and the $100,000 that Tallahassee investigators say they were paid to commit the crime may not be allowed to be presented at their Oct. 8 trial.

“I’d put it in the category of be careful what you wish for,” Leon Circuit Judge James Hankinson warned Assistant State Attorney Georgia Cappleman prior to his ruling. “I’m not sure the state really wants to be in the posture where they cannot introduce statements after payment is made.”

Georgia Cappleman is an astute prosecutor & I'm sure she & her team have weighed this from every angle. Hankinson's remarks got my attention, but is there not always some give & take about what makes it into evidence? Could some of this be defense attorneys crowing & posturing as they always do?

IMO, Garcia, Magbanua & 3 Adelmans should be behind bars forever.

Dan Markel's parents hoping for more arrests four years after his murder

Phil and Ruth Markel, still hold out hope that all those involved in the brutal killing of their son will be brought to justice. In a statement released on the anniversary of their son’s killing, they say they've been denied a chance to get to know their grandsons.

rehash of last 2 years of evidence, arrests & denials by Adelson attorneys. one of these days, hopefully soon, the Satae of Florida will be coming for all of them
