9 MONTHS LATER: Where is Danniella?

It's been nine months since a Mobile mother was last seen at a gas station on Government Boulevard.

Danniella Vian was last seen at the Shell Gas Station at the corner of I-65 and Government late at night on July 17th.

Since she disappeared, Mobile Police has offered a five thousand dollar reward for any information leading to her whereabouts.

She was last seen in a blue 2014 Chevy Cruz that she purchased that day. No signs of her or her car have been found since.

Danniella's friend reacts to new development

"It's upsetting because this isn't the outcome that any of us wanted," Vian's friend Shanna Haden said.

"I don't think if you were to ask anybody who knows her that they would have told you, 'Oh I think she's in Saraland, or I think she took off and went to Saraland or you guys should check Saraland," Haden said.

"I don't think Danniella drove her car 20 some odd miles north of Mobile and drove into a boat launch," she said. "She loves Cora and never would have done that it's not plausible."

"We are content with knowing what happened has happened and now we just need to find who did it," Haden said. "The car's been found so it'll only be a matter of time before the truth does come out."

They've had homicide investigating from early on. But they've always said there wasn't any indication of foul play. Just who was investigating the case, I think.

I don't think she did it or would have done it intentionally... but she had just left a bar.
Not that something else couldn't have happened or she ran into someone who harmed her. But IMOO that doesn't seem the most likely scenario (at this point...).

Friends host vigil for Danniella Vian one week after car found

Friends and family of Danniella Vian gathered Friday night for a vigil.

Vian's car was pulled from the waters of Bayou Sara one week ago. Candles, flowers, and a sign sit on the side of the bayou next to where her car was found.

After almost 10 months of searching investigators found Danniella's car. Now her friends and family want answers.

For Danniella's family, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Mobile Police have not yet confirmed through DNA analysis the body found is Danniella.

Danniella's daughter's paternal grandmother Julie Thomas said, "Llast week was the realization that the little bit of hope that we had taken from us, but we knew."

Along with the DNA analysis, Mobile Police have not said exactly how her car ended up in the bayou. It could still take some time for the analysis to come back.

EXCLUSIVE: Danniella Vian's parents release statement about her car, possible remains found

News 5 received the following statement from Danniella's parents Tuesday afternoon:

"Bill and I have been notified that the homicide unit at this point is leaning towards an accident. We are heartbroken and devastated about these findings. Danniella's father and I still have hope in the homicide division due to the fact that they have not closed the case and it's still ongoing. There is yet to be a positive ID of our daughter Danniella Vian. Please continue to keep our daughter Danniella in your prayers.

    Thank you,

    Joy and Bill Vian."

Although police believe the woman's body found in Danniella's car is Danniella, DNA and toxicology results have not yet come back.

Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste says this is still an active investigation.

    (With Video) :
Police believe Daniella Vian was alive when car went into water

    • Updated May 14, 2019
Police say they believe the body is that of Vian, and the preliminary investigation indicates that Vian was alive when her car went into the water.

Police also say that the condition as to how Vian's car was found in Bayou Sara is consistent with that of an accident.

Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste said, "Everything that we have found to this point indicates, or at least appears to us, to be an accidental incident. We wanted to at least let the public know that we're not looking for someone this is going around abducting women."

Again, the cause of Vian's death is undetermined.

Police say the toxicology report still needs to be completed and the investigation into her death will remain ongoing.

They also say it's hard to say right now when all the questions will be answered.

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — NBC 15 spoke with law enforcement following the discovery of Danniella Vian’s vehicle in the waters of Bayou Sara; at that time, early investigation revealed that evidence supported that death of the young mother who was missing for ten months was likely an accident.

"This is still an active investigation, but everything that we have found to this point indicates to us or appears to us to be an accidental incident," said Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste.

According to law enforcement, there are certain "manipulations of instrumentation inside the car" that could only have occurred after the car entered the water.

While NBC 15 is aware of what this information is, we are withholding that information until the investigation is concluded at the request of law enforcement.

The official cause of death is listed as undetermined due to the condition of the body; however law enforcement says preliminary autopsy results do not indicate trauma to the body.

Toxicology results could take six months to a year to get back.

Danniella Vian's parents released this statement via their spokesperson:

Bill and I have been notified that the homicide unit at this point is leaning towards an accident. We are heart broken and devastated about these findings. Danniellas father and I still have hope in the homicide division due to the fact that they have not closed the case and its still ongoing. There is yet to be a positive ID of our daughter Danniella Vian. Please continue to keep our daughter Danniella in your prayers.Thank you,Joy and Bill Vian

Danniella Vian's loved ones speak out after car is recovered
    SARALAND, Ala. (WPMI) —
Three days after the car belonging to missing mother Danniella Vian was foundher family spoke out for the first time, saying they're ready to move forward.

They are still trying to wrap their minds around this devastating discovery.

"There was just a numbing realization that she is really gone," said Julie Thomas, the grandmother of Danniella's daughter Cora.

Julie Thomas and her family are at a loss for words.

They desperately searched 9 months for Danniella and never imagined the outcome would be finding her car in the bottom of Bayou Sara.

"You think it is going to be closure to finally find out because that is your goal -- to find her. That's what you have been working so hard for so long for, begging for and praying for, and when you finally get that, it's not closure," said Thomas.

Police say Vian's blue Chevy Cruze was found 15 miles from where she was last seen leaving the community questioning who did this, why and how long has her car been out there?

Thomas says those are questions she's not asking.

"I don't know that you could feel anymore pain than already so add it to it's not going to change anything," said Thomas.

Her main goal was to find Danniella.

"All I wanted was to have her out of the water and I'm okay now. Everyone is talking about justice and justice will be served, whether it's by man or by God," said Thomas.

She says Danniella's daughter Cora is doing okay and she plans to tell her where her mother's car was found when she's older.

"All she needs to know is I believe we will confirm she is in heaven and she's been in heaven this whole time because she has brought up 'Why did mom leave?' and she was a little upset," said Thomas.

For now, she wants to move forward with their life the best way they can.

"We still have things we need to do for Danniella, but our job is done as far as looking for her," said Thomas.

Thomas says their family wouldn't have made it without the outpouring of support from the community.

"It's very much appreciated. There were a lot of times you felt weak and there was nothing you can do, but you see friends, family praying for you and it redirects you," said Thomas.

The body found inside the vehicle has not been identified as Danniella Vian.

Mobile police have only confirmed that it was her vehicle. The body was sent for DNA testing and an autopsy.
