The family of a missing Liberty teenager now believes there is foul play involved in her disappearance. Dozens of people searched a wooded area near Norfleet and Bannister in Kansas City, Missouri.

"She pretty much just dropped off the face of the earth."

Patty Tam says her daughter Desirea Ferris hasn't been seen in 4 weeks. She says the 18-year-old left her house to hang out with some friends and sent this text soon after:

"I'll be home tonight. I'll see you in a little bit."

But she never came home. Desirea's family says both Liberty and Kansas City police are questioning the group of friends she was with that night. Her family hired a private investigator who got a tip that Desirea was in this area of Norfleet and Bannister before her disappearance.

Family says the 18 year old was wearing a pink jacket, a beige blouse and sweat pants. A group of dozens searched through the woods for hours Sunday afternoon and came up short.

Two years later: Desirea Ferris’ family waits for answers, hopes for a break in her disappearance

It's been two years of waiting for answers, but the family of Desirea Ferris hasn't given up hope. Instead, they are asking anyone with information to come forward and bring the missing girl home.

There have been no breaks in the case, and no suspects specifically named in her disappearance. FOX4's Sherae Honeycutt spoke with her mother, Patti Tam, about how she's not sure if she can keep going without answers.

"I just want her home no matter what," Tam said. "Whether she's walking through those doors on her own two feet, or I'm carrying her, she's coming home."

She says if someone would just come forward they could bring her daughter home.

"There's people out there that knows where she's at, but they won't speak up. Whether they're afraid, or just too - I don't know. But, I know there's people out there that know. They've had 731 days to speak up."

There is a $12,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Desirea's case. If you have any information on what happened to her you're asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474- TIPS. You can remain anonymous.

From local chatter, they are pretty sure who is responsible but just don't have the info they need to ensure prosecution or which jurisdiction any crime happened in for sure.
