The family of a missing woman and toddler are asking for help from everyone as their search nears two weeks.

Police said Bynum is developmentally disabled and has the mental capacity of a 7-year-old.

Her father, Eugene Bynum Jr., said he was told police were turning their focus to area sex offenders as the investigation continues.

There is also a $1,000 reward from the family for any information leading police to Diamond Bynum and King, Decanter said.

Police expand search for missing Gary woman, nephew

It's been 11 days since 2-year-old King Walker and Bynum went missing from their Gary, Ind. home. Their family is desperate, but they refuse to give up hope.

Bynum and the little boy were last seen July 25. Bynum is mentally disabled and has Prader-Willi syndrome; she is unable to care for herself, let alone the boy.

"The investigation is leaning that way. We're not sure at this point. We're hoping if she was taken, whoever took her will release her soon, immediately, and get her home," said Sgt. Thomas Decanter, Gary Police Department.

Gary police seek man for questioning in missing persons case

Police in Gary, Ind., are searching for a man who they think could help them find two missing people.

Police say Terrance Williams lived near 21-year-old Diamond Bynum and her 2-year-old nephew King Walker. The two left their Gary home on July 25. Police believe Williams may have information about them.

Gary police did not release details about why they want to talk to Williams. Family members said they do not recognize the man, but hope somebody will.

Williams has not been charged and there are no warrants issued for his arrest, police said.

He is wanted for questioning only, police spokeswoman Lt. Dawn Westerfield said.

Williams, known as "Dollar," frequents the area of 22nd Avenue and Georgia Street and the 800 block of Pennsylvania Street, both on the city's east side, Westerfield said.

He is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 145 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, police said. Anyone with information is urged to immediately call police at 219-881-1260, but people can also leave information anonymously on the department's crime-tip hotline at 866-274-6347.

Search for missing Gary woman, toddler enters fourth week

A Gary detective used an extended snow brush and flashlight Thursday to get through thick grass in an open field near 27th Avenue and Delaware Street.

The sound of cars zooming by the nearby Interstate 80/94 were met with the sound of crunching branches. Detective Lt. Nelson Otano was searching the thick grass for a trail, disturbed branches or for any hint of Diamond Bynum and King Walker.

Thursday's search comes as it nears four weeks since Bynum, 21, and her 2-year-old nephew, King, went missing after taking a nap on July 25 at their home in the 500 block of Matthews Street in Gary.
    __________________

As Otano searched through the open field, Eugene Bynum and five volunteers searched the neighborhood's abandoned houses. Volunteers have already searched about 500 vacant buildings in Gary.
