Now they're saying they can't rule it out. "Circumstantially" they don't think it's him, but he hasn't been ruled out yet. I don't know how they can rule out circumstances when they can't account for a 2 year old. At this point, anything could have happened to Diamond and King...

I felt in the beginning they were too quick to say it was not King. But it could also be Malik. or a child not reported missing..... if it is a child not reported missing I think it is likely whoever had custody of him was killed as well...... most parents that kill their own kids do not dismember,,,,, oh its sick to even think about...... this poor baby..... he needs his name back!

Bynum family calls for release of gas station recording

The family of Diamond Bynum and King Walker want the Lake County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area officials to release the video they believe could show the missing woman and toddler on the day they disappeared.
    ___________________

Bynum said Lake County HIDTA has had the footage from the GoLo gas station at 11th Avenue and Clark Road since Aug. 23, after the family protested the station's refusal to release it. That footage may reveal leads of which direction the two went from the gas station and if the two got into a car, Bynum said.

"It's now September (25th), and we still have no results from the footage," Bynum said. "It's the only possible clue that we may have.

DNA Tests Confirm Remains Found In Garfield Park Lagoon Not Missing Gary Boy

DNA tests on the remains of a toddler found last month in the Garfield Park Lagoon have not yet led to an identity, but they have ruled out one possibility.

Now Gary police have heard from the FBI laboratory in Quantico, Virginia, which said the DNA of the victim found in the lagoon was not a match for King’s mother.

Chicago and Rockford police were still awaiting test results which might indicate if the remains were those of 2-year-old Kyrian Knox, of Rockford, who has been missing since August; or whether the DNA might lead to a family in Chicago or elsewhere.

I am glad it is not King..... but sad that Diamond and King are still no where to be found. I really feel as though someone lured Diamond, possibly urging them to bring her lil nephew along. She has no means to care for herself not being at home. No means to care for King. Does not have the mentality to do so. This is devastating. Where are they!!!!!!??????

Perhaps someone else similar to Diamond took them in? Someone who is set up for living on their own? Someone who can relate to her? I'm trying to be hopeful!

Search continues for Gary woman, boy missing three months

Kirklen said she wonders what it's going to take to bring Diamond and King home.

"I don't see how people can sit back after all this time and not offer to help," she said. "It really angers me. Here it has been three months and we still can't find them."

"But we've had the same amount of volunteers since day one," said Eugene Bynum, who wishes more people would donate at least one day of helping the family search.

A handful of loyal volunteers that either reside or grew up in Gary heard about the pair's disappearance and joined the family in their search during the last several weeks.

Gary police Lt. Dawn Westerfield said Friday that the investigation will remain ongoing until Gary police can find some answers.

On Saturday, July 25, Diamond Bynum, 21, and her nephew, King Walker, 2, went missing from the house where Diamond lives with her stepmother and father Eugene in Gary, Indiana. The two reportedly had been taking a nap that afternoon as had Diamond's stepmother. When the stepmother woke up, the two were gone. The family had recently moved to Gary with Diamond, who is described as mentally challenged. At their old home, Diamond was able to go on walks around their neighborhood because she knew the area. The family fears Diamond may have taken King on a walk and gotten lost. If you have any information that can help bring Diamond and King home safely, please contact the Gary Police Department at (219) 881-1260.

'It's like a big hole is in our family': Gary woman, nephew still missing

Christmas Day will mark five months since a 21-year-old developmentally disabled woman and her 2-year-old nephew disappeared from their Gary home.

The holidays are not any more difficult for family members than any other day since Diamond and King went missing, he said.

Wolf will continue to follow up on any tips, he said. DNA testing has been completed and entered into a national database for missing persons.

Missing daughter, grandson over holidays for Gary man

The drive down 5th Avenue in Gary near Matthews Street doesn't do much to bolster holiday spirit.

Businesses and residential areas line the landscape, but at least during the day, there's little in the way of Christmas decorations. No candy canes adorn the light posts; no Christmas lights can be seen adorning the houses.

Eugene Bynum Jr.'s house is also dark. There's no Christmas tree for the family to admire, no lights lending cheer to the view, only dark furniture in a room painted taupe with a heavy, gray wool blanket blocking out the light from the front window.

Any chance at enjoying the happiness and laughter that goes with close families around the holidays won't happen in the Bynum home this year.

With his daughter, Diamond Bynum, 21, and grandson, King Walker, 2, missing, there's nothing to celebrate.

Nine months later, family left with no clues in disappearance

It's been nine months since a developmentally disabled woman and her toddler nephew disappeared from their home.

Gary police Lt. Dawn Westerfield said the department remains committed to finding Diamond Bynum and King Walker, but detectives haven't received any new leads.

Year Passes Since Disappearance of Diamond Bynum and King Walker, No Answers

The Bynum family never thought they'd be in the same position a year after two of their loved ones disappeared; without any answers.

The frustration in Eugene's voice is evident when the investigation is brought up. In his eyes, and those of the rest of Diamond and King's loved ones, there has not been enough done by authorities to bring the two home.

They want the FBI to take over the case.

"If they had taken this seriously from our first call, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now, because Diamond and King would be home and safe," Eugene told Dateline. "If the FBI can't take over, we would like to know exactly why they don't fit the criteria."

While clues are scarce, hope is still evident. Eugene has avoided social media the past few months after someone reportedly hacked his Facebook account and posted a fake confession stating that he was responsible for their disappearance. He is not, however, giving up home that Diamond and King will be found alive. "It's been a year too long. They need to be home."

Task force investigating Gary woman, nephew disappearance

The Northwest Indiana Major Crimes Task Force is now investigating the disappearance of Diamond Bynum, 22, and her nephew King Walker, 3, who vanished 15 months ago.

Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson and Gary Police Chief Larry McKinley asked Major Crimes to review the case and develop new leads. Police and volunteers have done extensive searches of abandoned buildings and vacant lots throughout the city after the two disappeared from their home at 5th Avenue and Mathews Street in Gary’s Brunswick neighborhood. Residents have been through thousands of homes in organized searches.

“Gary police, the FBI and the Indiana State Police have all contributed a substantial amount of resources to the investigation, and we will continue to use their areas of expertise as the case moves forward,” Byrd said.
