Deliberations resumed on Thursday, one day after New York Supreme Court Justice Maxwell Wiley ordered the jury to continue efforts to reach a decision on the guilt or innocence of a bodega worker named Pedro Hernandez.

On the 10th day of deliberations, the jurors on Wednesday said in a note that they were unable to reach a unanimous decision.

Etan Patz Jury Asks For Printer On 14th Day Of Deliberations

Jurors in the murder trial involving the 1979 disappearance of 6-year-old Etan Patz have asked for dozens of exhibits, hours of read-back testimony and a spreadsheet to organize their thoughts. Now they’re getting a new tool — a printer.

A 14th day deliberations was held Monday in the case against Pedro Hernandez. Jurors requested a printer to make hard copies of their spreadsheet for discussion.

I pray that the jury can come to a unanimous decision soon. I haven't followed this trial, just know that juror's have been struggling.

Rip Etan! You so deserve Justice!

    Jury deliberations Day 16:

Judge Maxwell Wiley responded to Tuesday’s note by ordering the jury to continue deliberating.

He told jurors not to be concerned about the publicity surrounding the case — and the inevitable scrutiny that would follow a verdict. He said any verdict based on the evidence would be a just one.

Attorneys on both sides objected to Wiley’s decision.

Prosecutor Joan Illuzzi-Orbon said it sounded like the judge was telling jurors that any verdict would be acceptable, but she argued that the people of New York would rather see a second trial than an acquittal.

Harvey Fishbein, the attorney for the defendant, Pedro Hernandez, asked for a mistrial.

It's that magical 430pm time, when one of the #EtanPatz jurors must leave. Attorneys assembling, will call in jurors, likely be dismissed.

The Jury is working again through lunch. No one has heard a word from them since the last deadlock note on Tuesday. The Judge asked them to go back and try again.

I guess the longer the jury is kept, the less the chance the State will have to pay for a pricy retrial, as their argument can be quantitative ("We kept them for [say] three weeks; it will just happen again in another trial") and thus concrete if-not-proof, at least probability that the case can't be prosecuted. Result: innocent insane man is freed. road cleared for arrest hopefully one day of real guilty SOB.
