Some of the articles are referring to this incident as a 'terrorist attack.' But LE hasn't said that. It's the news agencies and many people on twitter.

More than ten pedestrians were hit by a white van driver who veered onto a pavement near a renowned north London mosque, in what is being described as a 'terrorist attack'.

Several people were reportedly hurt after the van ploughed into a crowd outside Finsbury Park Mosque, where hate cleric Abu Hamza once preached, as they finished Ramadan evening prayers called taraweeh.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing bystanders wrestle the suspect to the floor and pin him down until officers arrived.

A heavy presence of armed police officers swooped to the scene shortly after the drama unfolded

Emergency service crews were also spotted trying giving cardiac massages to the injured in a desperate bid to save them.

Twitter users claimed the victims were Muslims leaving late-night prayers being observed for the month of Ramadan.

The leader of Finsbury Park mosque, Mohammed Kozbar, told The Sun: 'Whoever did this, he did it to hurt people and it's a terrorist attack.

'We call it a terrorist attack as we called it in Manchester, Westminster and London Bridge.'

He added he heard there had been fatalities but did not want to 'jump to conclusions.'

Finsbury Park latest: One dead and 10 injured in London mosque terror attack

One man has died and 10 others were injured when a van was rammed into worshippers in a terror attack near a London mosque, before the driver is said to have screamed: "I'm going to kill all Muslims".

The van driver - described by witnesses as a large white man - was detained by members of the public after the incident in Finsbury Park early on Monday that police said had "all the hallmarks of terrorism".

The white van ploughed into pedestrians as the area was busy with worshippers attending Ramadan night prayers in Seven Sisters Road at 12.20am.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The man who died is believed to have been an elderly worshipper who was already receiving first aid from members of the public after collapsing. It is not yet known if his death was caused by the attack, police said.

One witness described being surrounded by "bodies" in the wake of the attack outside the Muslim Welfare House, yards from Finsbury Park mosque.

Some witnesses said more than one attacker might have been involved, but police said "no other suspects at the scene have been identified or reported to police".

The force also dismissed reports that the van driver produced a knife, adding: "At this stage there are no reports of any persons having suffered any knife injuries." Stay with us for the latest updates throughout the day.

Finsbury Park terror attack suspect filmed 'blowing a kiss' and 'laughing' moments after 'ploughing van into Muslim worshippers'

Onlookers described scenes of chaos as people 'yelled and screeched' after a vehicle mounted the pavement and ran down pedestrians

The Finsbury Park terror attack suspect was filmed 'blowing a kiss' and 'laughing' moments after ploughing into Muslim worshippers outside a mosque.

One man is dead and eight are in hospital after they were mowed down in north London this morning.

A video of police arresting a 48-year-old man at the scene shows the suspect blowing a kiss to people outside.

One witness said he was "laughing" as he was led away by officers.

The horrific incident comes just weeks after a series of terrorist attacks in Westminster, Manchester and London Bridge.

One resident said he jumped out of the way as the van struck pedestrians.

The man, who did not want to be named, said: "The gentleman went straight down this road, people were just conversing, talking, just doing what we're doing.

"And he just came into all of us. There was a lot of people. I was shocked, shocked, shocked. There were bodies around me."

A father-of-four from Cardiff has today been named as the suspect behind the Finsbury Park terror attack.

Darren Osborne has been named locally as the man accused of ploughing a van into a group of Muslim worshippers outside the Muslim Welfare House in north London this morning.

It is alleged that Osborne - who was not known to police and MI5 - hired an £80-a-day van from South Wales before driving down to London.

There, he is accused of mounting the pavement yards from the Finsbury Park Mosque and mowing down a group of British Muslims who had been helping an unwell man.

Witnesses say that, after the attack, he shouted 'I'm going to kill all Muslims - I did my bit' as he was restrained by members of the community.

Ten people were injured in the attack - including two who were said to be disabled - and one man has since died.
