ORANGE, Texas — The roommates of an Orange County man whose remains were found buried behind a shopping center in Pinehurst in 2017 have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Samed Rafiq, 23, was arrested on a murder charge in Farmingdale, New York, on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, in connection to the 2017 death of 21-year-old Nathan Anderson according to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Kevin Michael Van Horne, 32, surrendered to deputies on Saturday, April 27, 2019, and was arrested on a charge of tampering with evidence the release said. His bond is set at $10,000.

The pair had been persons of interest in the case ever since Anderson was reported missing by his family in June 2017.

Anderson’s skeletal remains, which were identified through forensic testing, were discovered in a wooded area behind a shopping center on MacArthur Drive in October 2017.
