Genette Tate disappeared in 1978 aged 13.

Tate's disappearance occurred within sight of her home village shortly after 15:30 (BST) on Saturday 19 August 1978. Her bicycle and scattered newspapers were found lying in the middle of a quiet country lane a few minutes after she had been speaking to two friends.

The main suspect Robert Black has died in prison.

Oh how sad! How in the world can we know what happened to her if indeed Robert Black is the one who took her life? :vigil:

The police were only a few weeks from submitting latest investigation evidence, but they are saying they will still submit what they have.

Thanks for posting this, @Ladyslug. Poor girl.. all these years gone by, and no justice yet. It'll be interesting to see these new reports.

Psychic drew the face of Genette Tate's killer 20 years ago

A psychic says she drew the face of schoolgirl Genette Tate's murderer more than 20 years.

She says the image had a striking resemblance to the man suspected of killing the girl – but claims police did nothing.

Clairvoyant Carol Everett drew a picture in 1994 of what appears to be Robert Black without knowing who the notorious child killer was after claiming she was visited by the spirit of a girl who wanted her help.

Did a Devon psychic solve the Genette Tate case? Medium claims she drew picture of the killer in 1994

Most police forces dismiss the notion of psychic assistance in murder cases.

In response to a nationwide enquiry 28 British police forces all denied that they used paranormal assistance in solving cases.

Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, for example, stated for the record that they do not use the services of psychics and that any persons offering such services are routinely declined.

Missing Genette Tate: Father of girl who disappeared 40 years ago makes heartbreaking plea on his deathbed

The father of missing Genette Tate has made a heartbreaking deathbed plea to find his daughter, four decades after she vanished.

After four decades of agony, dad John, now 76, feels time is running out to lay his girl to rest as he battles serious illness.

He recently suffered a major stroke and also has diabetes, McArdle’s disease and prostate cancer.

John has only just been released from hospital and is too unwell to make his annual pilgrimage to Aylesbeare from his Manchester home.

He said: “My life is coming to an end. I dearly want to know where Ginny is.

“Just to know that she has been found and given a Christian burial would be enough. I could go to my grave in the knowledge that we were together again.”

Cold case detectives eventually identified Scottish serial child killer Robert Black as their prime suspect.

He died in a Northern Ireland prison in January 2016, days before he was to be charged with her murder.

“Currently there isn’t an active investigation.”

John echoed her words yesterday, saying: “It annoys me when people say to me you have got closure. We’ll probably never have closure – especially now the only suspect is dead. I am not even 100% sure Black did it.

“I need proof that Black killed her. If we could just find her body then that could give me the proof I need.”

He added: “I haven’t heard from police since January 2016.

“That’s why I had to do this because everyone else seems to have given up on her – but with my last breath, I will not.”
