Official denies estate access to parents of dismembered teen Grace Packer

A Pennsylvania court official has ruled neither the biological parents nor the adoptive grandparents of a 14-year-old who prosecutors say was killed and dismembered by her adoptive mother can become administrators of the girl's estate.

The official wrote Grace's estate couldn't go to her adoptive grandparents either because of a potential conflict of interest due to their daughter's trial.

A court-appointed administrator will handle the girl's estate.

Grace Packer trial delayed until 2019

The trials to determine what happened to 14-year-old Grace Packer, a former Allentown student allegedly raped and murdered by her adoptive mother and the mother’s boyfriend in Richland Township in 2016, have been postponed until January.

Jury selection in the trials of Sara Packer, 43, and Jacob Sullivan, 45, had been slated for Sept. 17 in Doylestown. Court records show that Bucks County Judge Diane Gibbons recently granted a defense motion to continue the case and set it for Jan. 14.

Gibbons previously sealed the file, so details of the motion are not public. Due to a gag order, lawyers on both sides of the case declined to comment Thursday. Sara Packer and Sullivan are being tried separately.

Timeline questioned for 'suicide pact' in Grace Packer case

The woman described by prosecutors as being in a “polyamorous” relationship with Sara Packer and Jacob Sullivan testified Monday in Bucks County Court that she was not aware the couple planned to commit suicide as police closed in on them for the rape and murder of 14-year-old Grace Packer.

Sullivan’s lawyer, Chief Public Defender Christina King, pressed Allbright for details about her client’s suicide attempt. King noted that a full five minutes passed after Allbright got home before she dialed 911. A neighbor’s security camera recorded her car arriving, and 911 logs showed the time of the call.

“Weren’t you indeed hiding Sara in the bathroom at that time?” King asked.

    “No,” Allbright replied.

Allbright previously testified before a grand jury, and will likely be called as a trial witness. She has not been charged with a crime.

In court Monday, King disclosed that she had interviewed Sara Packer at the county jail before she knew that she would be assigned to represent Sullivan. The conversation was placed on the record after Sara Packer’s court-appointed attorney confirmed that his client was waiving her attorney-client privilege. King said she wanted to avoid any ethical dilemmas that might arise.

King testified that she introduced herself to Sara Packer and asked if she had any questions.

“Is he dead?” King recalled Sara Packer asking. “Did he make a statement? That wasn’t the plan.”

I am glad to see this case is here. I had to catch up and remind myself of the horrors of these so-called parents, but Grace deserves our support. I plan to be here for the trial!
