    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohaguro

    Ohaguro
Ohaguro (お歯黒) is a custom of dyeing one's teeth black. It was most popular in Japan until the Meiji era. Tooth painting is also known and practiced in the southeastern parts of China, Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia. Dyeing is mainly done by married women, though occasionally men do it as well. It was also beneficial, as it prevented tooth decay, in a similar fashion to modern dental sealants.

In Japan, Ohaguro existed in one form or another for hundreds of years and was seen amongst the population as beautiful until the end of the Meiji period. Objects that were pitch black, such as glaze-like lacquer, were seen as beautiful.

    Harford County John Doe

The body of an Asian man, aged twenty to thirty, was located on January 9, 1987 in Abingdon, Harford County, Maryland. He was murdered days before, by a gunshot wound to the chest. His body was abandoned at the side of a highway and was bound, wrapped in plastic and then covered with a sheet. He was around five feet five to five feet seven inches tall at an approximate weight of 134 pounds. The man had several scars on his face, one near his upper lip and four on the top of his head, which had healed. The victim had black, straight hair and brown eyes. He wore a pair of reddish and white nylon swim trunks that had a blue stripe and brown lining. By studying his teeth, which had no signs of dental care, it is presumed that he had a habit of using tobacco products. His case has been published in Asian media, which has ultimately been unsuccessful to develop any more clues to his identity or killer.

Do you recognize this man? (Harford County Sheriff's Office)

Cold Case In Bel Air: Officials Seek Tips About Homicide Victim

BEL AIR, MD — Authorities are asking for help identifying a man found dead in a ditch more than 30 years ago in Bel Air. Officials described the victim as an Asian man who was 20 to 30 years old.

When officials found him in a ditch off MD 24 in Bel Air, they said he had been tied up with rope, covered in plastic wrap and shrouded with a bed sheet. The body was found on Jan. 9, 1987.

According to officials, the victim was 5 feet 7 inches tall and 134 pounds.

"Today, 32 years later, we are still attempting to identify him and locate his killer," the Harford County Sheriff's Office reported last week. "Detectives from the Harford County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate this cold case, and hope to identify him and bring his killers to justice."

Anyone who may have information is asked to call Detective Moro at 443-409-3154.
