Service held in memory of missing toddler Hazana Anderson

Mourners filed into Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan on Saturday to honor the life of 21-month-old Hazana Anderson, who was reported missing from College Station in October.

Slow-paced Christmas carols played softly over the speaker system as each guest pinned a lilac ribbon to his or her shirt before passing three donation boxes positioned by the front door in the girl's honor.

Hazana's grieving family requested a quiet and simple service and opted to not make a public statement to the media.

A small pink and silver casket with a large arrangement of purple roses on top sat in the front of the room as Callaway-Jones certified life celebrant Dawn L. Wakefield led those who had gathered in prayer.

She then read from the young girl's obituary, which she had carefully prepared with Hazana's father, Tabodrick Anderson. The obituary discussed Tabodrick's love for his daughter and described some of Hazana's favorite pastimes, such as romping outside in the leaves or playing with her stuffed animals. It also described how she was given her unique name, inspired by the Judeo-Christian expression "Hosanna."

Bail reduced for mother's boyfriend charged in Hazana Anderson case

Kenny Hewett, the man charged in connection with 2-year-old Hazana Anderson's disappearance, has had his bail reduced.

Hewett's bail was initially set at $500,000. Judge Lonnie Cox reduced the bail to $250,000 in December 2018, after a request from Hewett's court appointed attorney.

Autopsy results for the body have not been released. But, Tiaundra Christon, Anderson's mother and Hewett's girlfriend, is said to have admitted to police that she and Hewett disposed of the child's body, according to police records.

Hazana Anderson autopsy complete; Hewett indicted by grand jury

A suspect in the death of 1-year-old Hazana Anderson of Bryan has been indicted by a grand jury in Galveston County, KBTX has learned.

Kenny Hewett has been indicted on a charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse. Anderson's mother, Tiaundra Christon, is also facing charges related to the child's death.

Galveston County Assistant Criminal District Attorney Patrick Gurski tells KBTX the criminal investigation is ongoing and the autopsy is complete, but results would not be publicly released at this time.

Hewett remains in the Galveston County jail on a $250,000 bond.

Christon is in the Brazos County jail facing multiple charges including the charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse.

Mother's boyfriend indicted in Hazana Anderson case

Anderson's mother, Tiaundra Christon, has not yet been indicted in the case. She faces similar charges from Galveston County in addition to charges of Child Endangerment and Filing a False Report from Brazos County.

Christon was arrested on October 29th, 2018 and has been in the Brazos County Jail for 82 days, as of Friday. She faces a combined $750,000 bond.

Prosecutors have 90 days to indict Christon, according to Texas law. Suspects who are not indicted after 90 days in jail must be "released on either personal bond or by reducing the amount of bail required."

A suspect's charges still remain even if released under Texas Law.

The Brazos County District Attorney's office declined to comment, citing an ongoing investigation.
