Year anniversary of Heather Elvis disappearance
It's been a year since the disappearance of Heather Elvis. The morning of December 18, 2013, was the last time anyone heard from Heather. Family and friends will gather Thursday at 5:15 for a vigil at Peachtree Landing in Socastee to remember the 20-year-old Horry County woman. Peachtree Landing is where her car was found abandoned December 19.

Trial date set for Heather Elvis murder case
A trial date has been set for the couple accused of killing 20-year-old Heather Elvis.

The trial for Tammy and Sidney Moorer will begin May 11th. Close to 800 jurors are expected to be called.

Tammy Moorer, 42, and Sidney Moorer, 38 are accused of killing Heather Elvis of Myrtle Beach in December 2013.

Investigators found Elvis' car on Dec. 19 2013 at Peachtree Landing in Socastee...but there is still no sign of a body.

Tammy Moorer out of jail after couple granted bond
One of the two Horry County people charged in the kidnapping and death of Heather Elvis had their newly-set bond paid Friday afternoon, and was released from J. Reuben Long Detention Center just after 6 pm.

Tammy Moorer, who is charged along with husband Sidney, has paid the $100,000 bond, was caught on News13 video walking out of jail where she and her husband have been held for the last 11 months.

Tammy Moorer walked quickly and ignored questions as she got into the back of an awaiting black SUV and took off.

Heather Elvis murder trial pushed back, Moorers remain out on bond
The murder trial for Heather Elvis has been pushed back from it's May court date.
According to Solicitor Jimmy Richardson, the motion to continue the trial was granted Tuesday. The case was set to begin May 11 on Conway.

Attorney seeks release of Tammy Moorer's property seized in Heather Elvis Case

Tammy Moorer's attorney has filed a motion asking for the state to return property seized when Horry County police searched her home as part of the Heather Elvis investigation.

In documents filed April 7, Myrtle Beach attorney Greg McCollum is requesting the release of "any and all items seized from the Moorer residence that have not been reviewed and/or examined at the time of this motion."

McCollum's motion does not specify what property he's seeking. Specifics of his motion have been filed under seal so as to comply with a gag order in the case.

This is an older article about the Moorers...

Who are Sidney and Tammy Moorer

An Horry County couple has been charged in the death and disappearance of a 20-year-old Myrtle Beach woman, who has been missing since before Christmas.

The married couple, Sidney Stclair Moorer and Tammy Lorinda Caison Moorer, have a long history in Horry County, with Sidney a Myrtle Beach native and Tammy Moorer, age 41, having graduated from Socastee High School in 1990.

Horry County Police say that Sidney Moorer, age 38, had a relationship with Heather Elvis and was listed on the original police report when the young woman went missing. It's not clear if the relationship was over before Elvis vanished on Dec. 18., the night that police say the couple killed her.

Each Moorer has stressed in interviews with media and on Facebook that they had nothing to do with Elivs' disappearance.

I have not really followed this case but I saw Heather's picture at the top and noticed how young she looks. She looks about 13 years old.

I don't know where to even begin discussing this case. There are many stories, side stories, at least 2 known people who were at one time charged with a crime. Where is Heather?
Imo she was killed and her body buried by her killer (s).

Heather Elvis prayer vigil set for tonight

A prayer vigil is set for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Peachtree Landing for Heather Elvis, according to a post on the Facebook page Find Heather Elvis.

Elvis, who was 20 at the time, was reported missing Dec. 19, 2013, after Horry County police found her car, which was registered to her father, parked at the Peachtree boat landing. Elvis’ keys, cellphone and purse were not found in the locked car and she remains missing.

Horry County police have charged Tammy Moorer and Sidney Moorer with murder and kidnapping in February 2014 in connection with Elvis’ disappearance. The couple were each released on $100,000 bail in January following a hearing before Circuit Court Judge Markley Dennis in Charleston.

A trial date has not been set for the couple on the charges.

Horry County police respond to residence of Sidney Moorer, woman charged

Sidney Moorer said he heard a noise shortly after 3 a.m. Monday and realized it was someone trying to get in his front door.

He got to the door, partially opened it, and a woman outside was demanding to come in, saying the people in the house should know who she was, Moorer said.

He and his wife Tammy are out on bond, charged with the 2013 kidnapping and murder of Heather Elvis. Elvis has not been found since she disappeared December of that year.

Moorer said since their arrest in February 2014 and their release from jail on bond this past January, his family has constantly been threatened and he’s had to call the police numerous times for people coming onto his property.

“I didn’t know who this woman was but she seemed pretty agitated that I wouldn’t let her in the house,” he said. “She seemed pretty intoxicated. But with all the threats we’ve had to deal with, I couldn’t take any chances.”

Heather Elvis murder suspect requests 2nd bond modification

The attorney for the man accused of kidnapping and murdering 20-year-old Heather Elvis has filed a motion requesting another bond modification, weeks after a Charleston judge granted a modification allowing Sidney Moorer and his wife to leave for Florida.

In a motion filed with the Horry County Courts on August 18, Moorer’s attorney Kirk Truslow requested that the court move to modify the conditions of his client’s bond. The clerk of court reviewed and filed the motion on August 24.

Solicitor Jimmy Richardson confirmed to WMBF News that they have received the motion and are considering an agreement.
