Holli Jeffcoat's Family Members Share Questions about her Death, Hopes for Future Changes

Nearly nine months after Holli Jeffcoat, 18, was found murdered in her Northeast Lubbock County home, her body burned, her throat slit, and her uterus removed, the pain of her death is still vivid for her family members.

Much of the information about what happened to Holli has been held back for ongoing criminal charges. While her family waits for more information, they hope that Holli's life won't be forgotten and that her death might inspire changes to help other children from going through the same tragedy.

Holli's uncle, Ronny Lemmond, who runs the Justice for Holli Facebook page explained that in the months since her death, he's wondered a lot about what could help protect other victims of abuse.

A year after 18-year-old Holli Jeffcoat was killed in her home in northeast Lubbock County, two people — her mother and stepfather — await trial on charges stemming from her murder.

The capital murder and aggravated sexual assault cases of James and Debi Holland are still in the early stages, with plea negotiation conference hearings set for March 29 for Debi, 39, and April 5 for James, 40.

Family seeking justice for Holli Jeffcoat, 15 months after brutal murder

It's a story we've been following since last February, when Idalou teen, Holli Jeffcoat, was found brutally murdered.

Holli would have turned 20 years old on Wednesday.

Her mom and step-father remain behind bars, charged with capital murder and aggravated assault, while Holli's family continues to fight for "Justice for Holli."

"What we want to see here is a successful prosecution and the actors of this crime to face justice. We're taking every appropriate and possible step to ensure that," he said. "It's our primary mission to find those who are responsible for it and see that they see justice."

The gag order was issued on July 12, 2016, prohibiting the release of any information to news outlets.

Right now, the Department of Family and Protective Services is investigating Holli's death. Both Debi and James Holland remain behind bars as they await trial. They're held on a total of $3.5 million bond, each.
