Family is hoping someone somewhere can tell them what happened to Hykeen!

Hykeen Jamal Brown, a 24-year-old man, was found dead Tuesday, Sept. 20, near 127th Street East and Avenue R-5 in the southeast Antelope Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said a passerby was walking near a vacant lot when they saw a foot sticking out from the sand. The person looked deeper and found a mandible bone.

At that point, the person called authorities, Winter said. Police arrived in the area and found the rest of Brown's remains.

The coroner's office had no other information about the case.

The Times has contacted detectives to obtain additional details about the death and will post an update as soon as one becomes available.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to contact the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Tipsters who would like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800) 222-8477.

Still a cold case? What happened to the coroner's report? Doesn't sound gang-related, they'd hardly bury a victim, more likely shout from the rooftops!!
