Culver City police looking for missing infant after parents' arrest

    [IMG] [IMG]

Culver City police are asking the public's help finding a missing 6-month-old baby whose parents were arrested last month and remain in custody.

The child, Jacsun Manson, was reported missing on Jan. 25 but was last seen in December.

Authorities say his parents, Adam Manson and Kiana Williams, were recently arrested by Los Angeles police and remain in the custody of the county sheriff's department.

On Dec. 31, Manson and Williams were suspected of stealing a vehicle from a homeless transitional home in Culver City where they were living. They took off with the child inside.

"That was actually stolen from the Upward Bound House in our city, and that's how we're involved in it because the last known address for Jacsun's parents were right here in our city," Lt. Troy Dunlap said.

A few days after stealing the vehicle, authorities said Manson and Williams were arrested on suspicion of breaking and entering into a car. At that time, Jacsun wasn't with them and they would not tell the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services where the baby could be found.

After a few weeks of investigating, DCFS finally reported Jacsun missing to police. Throughout the investigating, his parents have stayed silent about his whereabouts.

"Family and friends have been very cooperative in helping us, but the parents haven't been cooperative," Dunlap said. "There's several stories, several incidents where they say Jacsun was, where he should have been, and none of those have worked out for us."

A judge won't allow Manson and Williams out until they cooperate with investigators.

Authorities are looking for the stolen vehicle, which is described as a blue 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The vehicle is missing a bumper and the license plates have probably been removed.

6-Month-Old Boy Still Missing Weeks After Parents’ Arrest: Culver City Police

The Culver City Police Department reached out to the public Thursday for help finding a 6-month-old boy who was last seen on New Year's Eve with his parents, who have since been arrested.

Jacsun Manson was reported missing to police and the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services on Jan. 25 but was last seen by witnesses on Dec. 31, according to the Culver City Police Department. He was not with his parents, Adam Manson and Kiana Williams, when they were arrested.

On Dec. 31, a witness in that area reported seeing Jacsun sitting inside a blue 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser with his parents nearby, apparently trying to break into other cars. Investigators believe the Chrysler was also stolen.

Los Angeles police arrested the couple in the same area on Jan. 3 in connection with car burglaries, Dunlap said.

But both the PT Cruiser and infant have been missing since they were taken into custody. The car is missing a bumper and likely its license plates as well, officials said.

Dunlap said authorities are investigating all leads but the parents are not cooperating.

“We have contacted family members and friends, and they have been cooperative,” Dunlap said. “But none of the information they have given to us has actually led to the location of Jackson.”

He added that detectives are hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.

URGENT: Vehicle found, but 6-month-old baby boy still missing; parents refuse to help [Police]

California authorities found a reported stolen vehicle on Friday that a missing baby was last seen in, but the infant remains missing.

ABC 7 reports that Culver City detectives found a vehicle 6-month-old Jacsun Manson was last seen in. The car had been dumped in a Crenshaw parking lot close to 54th Street and 11th Avenue, said to be frequented by transients. Authorities said the boy’s parents stole the car and may have been living in it prior to their arrests.

The car could possibly hold clues as to what happened to Jacsun, but authorities are not yet saying what, if anything, has been found.

Investigators questioned the pair on their son’s whereabouts but haven’t been able to locate him. Dunlap said social services didn’t report the baby missing until January 25.

Parents accused in death of missing 6-month-old; SoCal landfill being searched

The parents of a missing 6-month-old boy will be arrested Monday in connection to the baby's murder, the Culver City Police Department said.

Jacsun Manson was reported missing to police on Jan. 25 by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services.

The infant's parents, identified as Adam Manson and Kiana Williams, were arrested by Los Angeles police on another charge and remain in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

According to witnesses, Jacsun was last seen on Dec. 31, 2018 with his parents, prior to their arrest.

Detectives developed reason to believe that Manson and Williams are responsible for the disappearance and death of their 6-month-old son, authorities said Monday.

The baby's body was never found.

Detectives believe that after his death, Manson and Williams allegedly discarded his body in a dumpster somewhere near the Crenshaw Mall in Los Angeles, according to police.

Culver City Police Department personnel and several volunteers were set to search Monday at the El Sobrante Landfill in Corona, where detectives believe the 6-month-old's body may have ended up.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Culver City Police Department. During business hours contact Detective Raya at 310-253-6318. After business hours, contact the Watch Commander at 310-253-6202.

Culver City missing baby: Police searching for remains in Corona landfill; parents to be charged with murder

Jacsun Manson's body has never been found, but his mother confessed to detectives that she knew the baby was not alive.

Investigators on Monday searched the El Sobrante Landfill in Corona, where they believe Jacsun's body may have ended up. It's sure to be a painstakingly slow process trying to find the remains of a 6-month old boy inside a landfill that processes 70,000 tons of trash every week.

"We have over 20 personnel at the landfill right now," said Culver City police Lt. Troy Dunlap.

Monday's search of the landfill turned up empty. Now, authorities are putting together a plan as to how to move forward because the trash from the time they need is already buried, and they will need heavy machinery to dig.

"They should have never (been given back) the child. They are two recovering addicts," Adam Manson's sister Aegina Manson said. "A lot of it doesn't make sense. There's a lot of lies."

She said she believed that for awhile, the baby was with a friend. Aegina Manson said she talked to her brother shortly before the boy went missing. She said he was in tears, admitting he just couldn't care for his child. She agreed to care for the boy, but he never called back to make those arrangements.

Police Suspend Search For Missing Infant's Remains

Police officials suspended a search for the remains of 6-month-old Jacsun Manson at a landfill Tuesday, as they studied where to resume the search in hopes of finding the child's remains. The child's parents, a Culver City couple, remained jailed awaiting a possible murder charge for allegedly killing their infant son and tossing his body in a trash bin.

Investigators on Monday began searching the El Sobrante Landfill in Corona for the remains of 6-month-old Jacsun Manson, but were unable to find any sign of the infant, Culver City police Capt. Jason Sims said.

The effort was suspended Tuesday while authorities worked to determine where in the landfill to resume the search. It was unclear when search crews would return to the landfill.

DA: Culver City Infant Died While Parents Did Drugs; His Body Discarded In Dumpster

Two Culver City parents discarded the body of their six-month-old son into a dumpster after he died while they were doing drugs on New Year’s Eve in a South Los Angeles motel room, prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Adam Manson, 34, and Kiana Williams, 32, were each charged with one count of child abuse resulting in death, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office reports.

The body of their son, Jacsun Manson, still remains missing.

According to the DA’s office, on Dec. 31, Manson and Williams were doing drugs in a motel room and later found their son dead. Culver City police believe they then put his body into a suitcase and threw that suitcase into a dumpster near the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in the Crenshaw Neighborhood.

They are expected to be arraigned as early as Wednesday afternoon. If convicted as charged, they face a maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison.

Culver City police are continuing to investigate the case.

Parents charged in case of missing Southern California baby

Los Angeles County prosecutors have filed charges against the parents of a missing baby who is presumed dead.

Thirty-four-year-old Adam Manson and 32-year-old Kiana Williams were each charged Wednesday with one count of child abuse resulting in death. They face an afternoon arraignment.

Authorities allege the parents were doing drugs in a motel room on Dec. 31 and later found their 5½-month-old son, Jacsun, dead.

Officials believe they put the body in a suitcase and tossed it into a trash dumpster.

Culver City police investigators are planning a search of the El Sobrante Landfill in the city of Corona in hope of finding the boy's remains.

Parents Tell Disturbing Details Of Baby Jacsun's Death: Report

In documents obtained by ABC7, parents of 6-month-old Jacsun Manson revealed disturbing details about the final moments of their baby's death.

After months of speculation about what happened to baby Jacsun and a fruitless search at Corona landfill, the baby's fate was finally confirmed after his parents admitted to dumping his body. Culver City detectives were able to sift through conflicting stories from the baby's parents to get the tragic truth.

Adam Manson, 34, and Kiana Williams, 32 – who were charged with child abuse causing death – confessed to detectives that they were "chronic methamphetamine and marijuana users," smoking every day, the news station reported.

On New Year's Eve at King Motel in Los Angeles, Manson woke up to Williams crying while holding the baby, the news station said. When the couple realized Jacsun was unresponsive and limp, they decided against calling the police "out of fear that they would be arrested for Jacsun's death," according to ABC7.

Then, they wrapped Jacsun in a blanket and trash bag, stuffed him in a duffel bag, and dumped him behind the Sears store at Baldwin Hills Plaza, the news station reported.

Search to Resume at Landfill for Baby Boy Last Seen in Late December

Searchers planned to resume looking through an Riverside County landfill Tuesday for the remains of a 6-month-old baby whose parents were charged with child abuse in connection with his death.

Jacsun Manson hasn't been seen since late December, and police said they believe his remains were thrown into a trash bin at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw mall and may have ended up in the landfill in Corona.

The parents allegedly put their son's body in a suitcase and left it in a trash bin, according to Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami.

Parents ‘who dumped baby son in trash refused to help police find his body’

On Tuesday, authorities resumed the search that had stalled out for weeks.

‘Today we resumed after I believe it’s been a few weeks now with some experts that can help us track down a little bit more of a specific area,’ Culver City Police Lieutenant Troy Dunlap told Metro US on Tuesday.

‘We tracked the trash bin where it would have been dumped and that’s how we ended up out in the landfill. We originally started searching the landfill, realizing that his body could possibly be up to 80 feet down below several hundred tons of trash.’

‘The judge would call them out from custody and they’d go in front of the judge, who’d go “Hey, where’s the baby. We need more information”…Finally the detectives went back and re-interviewed the mother and then she finally admitted this is what happened.’

Both Manson and Williams have been charged with felony child endangerment, not murder, because it is unclear how Jacsun died and it is unlikely that police will be able to determine his cause of death- even if they find the body.

‘They did admit to being high on methamphetamine and other drugs so we’re thinking that’s probably why (prosecutors) are charging them with neglect because they were high on meth and something happened to the child. They haven’t admitted why they did it, but that’s something they admitted,’ Dunlap said, and added that DNA would be necessary determine how Jacsun died.

‘They compact the trash. It was such a small child and with it being compacted like that it would be very difficult to get any kind of DNA (from his body)’ Dunlap said.

The couple is being held in police custody until their arraignment on Thursday.

Parents Ordered to Stand Trial on Child Abuse Charge Involving Baby’s Death

The parents of a 6-month-old boy whose remains are believed to be in a Corona landfill were both ordered Thursday to stand trial on a felony charge of child abuse resulting in death following testimony that the two admitted leaving the infant’s body in a suitcase that was dumped in a trash bin at a Los Angeles-area shopping center.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge M.L. Villar denied a motion by the defense to dismiss the case against Kiana Williams, 32, and Adam Manson, 34, who are facing the charge in connection with the death of their son, Jacsun Manson, whose body still hasn’t been found.

In the letter, the boy’s father wrote that the couple’s baby deserves to be found “so they can find out why” and so can they move on.

“We are good people who made a bad choice,” he said in the letter to Williams, in which he wrote that he loves her and noted that he wished they had called 911 as she had suggested.

In a jailhouse interview in February, Manson also acknowledged using methamphetamine and said he became really upset after the two each unsuccessfully tried to perform CPR on their baby, Raya told the judge.

“He did not see Kiana packing Jacsun in the suitcase,” the detective said, recounting an interview in which Manson cried.

    **Jacsun Manson Case Update**

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

After weeks of research, consultation with subject matter experts from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and discussions with Waste Management and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, the Culver City Police Department has decided to discontinue the search of the El Sobrante Landfill for the remains of Jacsun Manson. We make this decision with a heavy heart after an exhaustive investigation was unable to narrow down the possible location of Jacsun’s remains within the landfill to a point that would make continuing the search reasonable.

Jacsun’s parents, Kiana Williams and Adam Jackson, were both held to answer at a preliminary hearing on charges of felony child endangerment resulting in death on April 11, 2019. Their bail remains set at $5,000,000.00. Williams and Jackson’s next court appearance will be April 25, 2019, at the Criminal Courts Building (210 W. Temple St., Los Angeles). The Culver City Police Department will continue to work closely with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to see this case through to a successful prosecution.
