    Grossman Missing Anniversary
    Posted: Mar 17, 2014 7:10 PM EDTUpdated: Mar 31, 2014 7:38 PM EDT
    BILLINGS, Mont. -

Her name is Jamee Christine Grossman. Born and raised right here in Billings, along with her three little brothers.

As the years passed, she grew into a beautiful young woman, who eventually gave birth to two beautiful girls of her own.

This photo was taken with her kids at MontanaFair. Here's Jamee with her dad and two girls.

    Jamee's mother is Leslie Taft.

"Jamee was a wonderful person. She had a big heart. She would give the shirt off her back to anybody. She was a great mom," says Taft.

At age 25 Jamee was employed at the Golden Corral on the west side of Billings, but on the morning of March 17th, 2012, she didn't show up show up for work.

Her mother remembers the call like it was yesterday.

"We got a phone call from her boyfriend on March 17th saying she was missing," says Taft.

Billings police say Jamee was living with her boyfriend, a man named Frank Hammontree, at a motel on 1st Avenue North.

But police say the couple's difficulties with drugs and alcohol led to them being evicted.

On Friday March 16th, police say Frank and Jamee accepted an offer from friends to move into a trailer home on Hillner Lane in Lockwood.

The move was supposed to happen Saturday March 17th.

And there was something else was that was supposed to happen, according to Captain John Bedford, the supervisor of detectives with the Billings police department.

"The morning of the 17th she had scheduled a meeting with the father of her baby to have a visitation with her child and called him at about 8:45 in the morning and canceled the appointment. She said she was sick," says Bedford.

Frank Hammontree said he had taken Jamee to a convenience store on 1st Avenue north where that meeting was supposed to have taken place.

He said he saw Jamee get into a blue vehicle and that was the last he ever saw of her.

But an analysis of that convenience store's security cameras showed no Jamee, no boyfriend, no father, no little girl, no blue vehicle.

Hammontree, who's now in the Montana State prison in Deer Lodge on a felony related weapons conviction, became a prime suspect for Billings police.

Captain Bedford says, "Her boyfriend, we brought in and asked him to come in and talk to us. He came with an attorney and declined to give a statement. So, we've had no conversation with him.

"I guess the obvious thing is, if he was so concerned, why is he unwilling to talk to us about it and not cooperate?"

Two full years have passed and Jamee is nowhere to be found.

There was information her boyfriend had taken her to Las Vegas and left her there.

Other information indicated she was in Everett, Washington.

A psychic even got involved and said Jamee was somewhere near Hardin.

Investigators checked out all three leads, and all three leads led to three dead ends.

Her mother, who raised Jamee and her three brothers as a single mom, owns a salon on Billings west side.

In her desperation to try to help her daughter get off drugs, she says she quit trying to be her daughter's best friend and instead got tough as nails with her daughter, which included cutting off communication.

"I loved her. Just did what I thought was right. She was 24 years old and doing it again, and I had her daughters best interest at heart to make sure they were safe."

Jamee Christine Grossman. A daughter, a sister, a mother, who has left her mother in agony.

"I want to know where she's at. I want to put this case to rest. We want to go on. We need to know what to tell her girls," says Taft.

Captain John Bedford says, if you have a conscience, if you have the slightest memory or any knowledge of what may have happened to this young woman, please call Crimestoppers at 245-6660.
