FBI asking for public's help in searching for missing Arizona woman

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is asking for the public's help searching for an Arizona woman who was last seen on the Navajo Nation nearly a month ago.

Jamie Lynnette Yazzie was last seen in the area of Pinon, Arizona, on the evening of June 30.

Yazzie, 31, also goes by Jamie Montoya and Jamie Yazzie.

She is described as a 5-foot-5, 230-pound Native American woman with black hair and brown eyes. Yazzie worked as a nursing assistant.

The FBI is seeking any information regarding Yazzie's whereabouts or the details and circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

Pinon is within the boundaries of the Navajo Nation and is about 130 miles northeast of Flagstaff.

    Information sought on missing woman

The Navajo Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Jamie Yazzie from Pinon. Yazzie’s last known contact was June 30 when she contacted a co-worker. She has not been seen or heard from since.

Yazzie is a Native American woman from the Dine’ tribe. She was last seen leaving her employment at the Pinon Clinic in Pinon. She is about 5’5’’ tall with brown eyes and black hair. She weighs between 230-240 lbs and is 32 years old.

Navajo Police Department received a call on July 5 when a co-worker reported that Yazzie’s vehicle was found less than a mile east of the Pinon Clinic. An active search is currently being conducted in the area where her vehicle was found.

PINON, Ariz. – The local search for Jaime Yazzie, a Navajo woman who went missing on June 30, has been suspended in the area south of Pinon, however, the investigation continues. The Navajo Division of Public Safety has been searching for Yazzie since she was reported missing on July 5.

The Navajo Police Department received a call on July 5 from a colleague of Yazzie, reporting her friend was missing. Responding officers met with the caller and an investigation was initiated.

The search area south of Pinon was a four-day search effort with resources provided by the Department of Emergency Management and community volunteers. Navajo Department of Criminal Investigation Delegated Director, Dale West, confirmed a criminal investigation is ongoing.

This case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation program. As the investigation continues, additional information will become available.
