Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing 74-year-old Carrum Downs woman Janice Conole.

Janice was last seen leaving her home on Frankston-Dandenong Road yesterday about midday in her green 2001 Toyota Echo with registration TMQ501.

She then made contact by phone stating she was in Stawell at about 5.30pm.

Janice is described as 150cm tall, slim build with short brown wavy hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing jeans, t-shirt and casual shoes.

Police and family are concerned as this is out of character for Janice and she is also experiencing early stage dementia.

It is believed Janice may be somewhere between Carrum Downs and Horsham.

Investigators have released a photo of Janice in the hope someone recognises her.

Anyone who sees her is urged to contact Ballarat Police Station on 5336 6000.
