An Amber Alert has been issued for a 12-year-old girl from China who is believed to have been abducted at Reagan National Airport.

Authorities say JinJing Ma was in the United States as part of a tour group when she was abducted by an unknown woman at around 8:15 a.m. Thursday.

“She received her passport just prior to checking in and left her group,” according to the Amber Alert. “She met up with an unknown middle age Asian female, who assisted her in changing clothes. They then walked together to the arrivals area of the airport and disappeared out of camera view."

Police said the girl stated she was going to use the restroom. However, while the group was checking in, another student in the tour group informed chaperones that she was missing.

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Chief David Huchler said when the girl and the woman were leaving the airport, they were seen getting into a white Infiniti vehicle with New York tags.

Before the abduction, the woman was seen with another Asian man before she made contact with the 12-year-old girl. It is believed the man was driving the white Infiniti.

"At this point, we don't know the exact circumstance as to why the child left with this Asian female," said Huchler. "The child appears to have left without any force. She entered the vehicle without any force. But that does not release any of our concerns. We're still very concerned because we don't know why this child left with that Asian female."

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police said they were not informed about the missing girl about an hour after she left the airport. Police issued an Amber Alert later Thursday afternoon.

"We had no reason to believe that the child should have left with these people, but we are trying to track down leads to ascertain what had occurred before we put out the Amber Alert or held the press conference," said Huchler.

A witness stated he may have seen Ma meet and receive food from the female suspect when the tour group was in New York City, according to the FBI.

The 12-year-old girl is described as 4-feet-11-inches and weighs 90 pounds. She has medium black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a black jacket.

The woman who is believed to have abducted the girl is described as approximately 40 years old, 5-feet-2 to 5-feet-5-inches tall, weighing 130 pounds and was wearing a black dress.

Anyone with information about Ma's whereabouts or the abductor is asked to call Virginia State Police at 1-800-822-4453 or Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police at 703-417-2400

Girl, 12, Taken From DC Airport, Is in 'Extreme Danger': Police
A 12-year-old girl who was visiting the United States from China was abducted by a woman at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Thursday morning, officials say.

The girl, JinJing Ma, is believed to be in "extreme danger," Virginia State Police said in a statement. The FBI is involved in the investigation, and state police said they are contacting the Chinese embassy.

Ma was last seen at the airport at 8:15 a.m. She was traveling with a group and met with a middle-aged woman, who also was visiting from China.

The girl and the woman both changed clothes, walked to the arrivals area of the airport and disappeared out of the view of security cameras, police said.

They are believed to be riding in a white Infiniti SUV with New York plates that a man is driving.

Ma stands 4-foot-11 and weighs 90 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and a black jacket.

The woman, whose name police did not release, stands 5 feet tall and was wearing a black dress.

A witness told police he may have seen the woman meet up with Ma in New York and give her food. It wasn't immediately clear if Ma and the woman were traveling in the same tour group.

Is that grainy photo from the airport?
With all of the massive surveillance and security at airports, that's the best photo they could get?
It certainly sounds like this was somehow planned. "Helped the girl change clothes"??? Either that or she was threatened with an unseen weapon.

Police launch desperate search for Chinese girl, 12, who was abducted by a woman at Reagan National Airport

Authorities have launched a frantic search for a 12-year-old girl from China who is believed to have been kidnapped at Reagan National Airport near Washington, DC.

JinJing Ma arrived in the United States as part of a tour group.

At approximately 8:15am on Thursday, she was abducted by an unknown woman, according to Fox 5 DC.

Law enforcement officials in the DC area issued an Amber Alert.
    _________________________

The girl had arrived with a tour group that was in the process of having passports checked at customs.

After the girl received her passport, she asked to be excused to the restroom, according to police.

Investigators believe that she did not make it to the restroom.

Instead, she met up with a woman who helped her change into different clothes.

The woman then took the girl and walked to the Arrivals section before leaving the airport.

Airport police said that the girl and the woman were seen getting into a white 2016 or 2018 Infiniti QX70 with New York license plates.

So far, investigators do not know the plate number.

Before the woman allegedly kidnapped the girl, she was seen walking with an Asian man with whom she arrived at the airport.

Police believe the man was driving the Infiniti.

‘At this point, we don't know the exact circumstance as to why the child left with this Asian female,’ said Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Chief David Huchler.

‘The child appears to have left without any force. She entered the vehicle without any force.

‘But that does not release any of our concerns. We're still very concerned because we don't know why this child left with that Asian female.’

12-year-old girl abducted from Reagan airport seen getting into car with NY plates
An Amber Alert has been issued for a 12-year-old girl believed to have been abducted from Reagan Washington National Airport on Thursday.

Authorities said at about 8:15 on Thursday morning, Jinjing Ma disappeared shortly after arriving at the airport with a tour group from China.

In a press conference on Friday, Airports Authority Chief of Police David Huchler said the tour group was scheduled to catch a flight bound for the west coast when Ma said she had to use the bathroom.

“It wasn’t until they were starting to check through security that another student within the group notified chaperones she was missing,” Huchler said.

Amber Alert: Surveillance photo shows 12-year-old girl and her alleged airport abductor

"Because of the age of the child, this is a very serious incident," Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police chief David Huchler said.

Police said a surveillance photo shows Ma moments after she was abducted at about 8:15 a.m. on Thursday. Investigators said Ma is on the right and her alleged abductor on the left:

"She is believed to have left the airport with an unknown middle-aged Asian female," Huchler said, adding, "That Asian female is described as 5'2" to 5'5", weighing 130 pounds."

Huchler said the abductor helped Ma change clothes before the pair exited the airport's Terminal C through the arrivals level. That's when they got into a white Infiniti SUV with New York license plates before driving off.
"We do believe that there is a male subject driving the vehicle that the child left in," Huchler said.

Shortly before Ma disappeared, police said another surveillance photo shows Ma's abductor arriving at the airport with a male suspect. Huchler suggests Ma may have gone with her abductor willingly.
"The child appears to have left without any force. She entered the vehicle without any force, but that does not release any of our concerns," Huchler said.

Investigators said a witness told them he may have seen Ma's abductor meet up with her in New York City and handed her food. The FBI, Virginia state police, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are also investigating. Police said they're working to contact Ma's guardians in China.

This is not random. Three main possibilities here IMO.

    1. This was set up in advance, perhaps by her family
    2. She met someone online
    3. Trafficking - if it was the same people in NYC perhaps gaining her trust and promising her things

    Anybody have any hunches?

Does the reference to "guardians" instead of "parents" imply that her bio parents don't have custody of her? If true, then maybe this was a non-custodial parental abduction. If Ma knew the ID of the kidnappers and felt a bond with them, I could easily see her going with her abductors willingly.

Girl missing from Reagan National found; left airport with parents in misunderstanding

Twelve-year-old JinJing Ma has been found safe Friday. Chinese media reports that Ma left Reagan National Airport with her two biological parents who have been in the United States for two years.

Ma's parents picked her up from the airport as a result of a misunderstanding. When they saw the news story of their daughter missing on Thursday, they called the Demidchik Law Firm in Flushing, New York and arranged to visit the firm Friday morning, according to Anna Demidchik of the Demidchik Law Firm.

Demidchik says the FBI arrived Friday morning at the law firm and met with the parents and Ma. No one was detained, and it appears the incident will not be treated as an abduction, but a misunderstanding.
