Very interesting! I’m not in any particular camp regarding who did it, but I’d point out that regarding the pocket knife, Burke could have known where it was hidden. Boys find that stuff pretty quickly and can be smart enough to leave it where the parent (or housekeeper) hid it.

The part about Mrs Ramsey’s mental state is interesting in light of some speculation I’ve read, probably in this very thread, about histrionic personality.

I saw that and was disgusted. CBS should have gone to the mat on this one.

I also feel like it should be noted that the former house keeper sued the Ramsey's for libel. This took place in 2002, over what was said about her in their book. The case was dismissed in favor of the Ramsey's. The court documents are here.

This case is just turning into a bunch of civil suits. It probably pays not to have an opinion anymore.

I’ll have to look back over the thread to find reference to histrionic personality.

I don’t know what happened to this child but I do have to wonder if there were signs of Munchhausen by proxy. Didn’t JBR have like 27 trips to the doctor within a two year period? I wonder what that was all about.

The Crux of his lawsuit is that one of the people on their special said, in another interview, something like: That if you examine all of the evidence you can't come to any other conclusion than Burke did it."

If CBS had gone to the mat on this the whole trial would have been about the evidence. Burke would basically have been on trial. He'd have to sit through the entire trial as all of the evidence was presented. IIRC, you can't plead the fifth in a civil trial and so he'd have to testify. CBS could have asked to broadcast the trial and probably have gotten tremendous ratings. CBS may not have wanted to seem to be making money off it, but somebody would.

However, once Burke understood that the evidence would have to be presented to a jury, I believe he would have dropped the suit. The possibility of the jury reaching a conclusion that yeah, he did do it. Would be way too risky.

"Convicted pedophile Gary Oliva has confessed to the murder of six-year-old pageant princess in prison letters to his friend – claiming it was 'an accident'
    • Gary Oliva, 54, has long been a suspect in the murder of JonBenét Ramsey,
    • In letters to high school classmate Michael Vail obtained by DailyMailTV,
Oliva claims he killed JonBenét by accident
    • 'I let her slip and her head bashed in half and I watched her die.
    • It was an accident,' he wrote from Limon Correctional Facility, Colorado
    • Oliva is serving a 10-year-sentence for possessing child pornography
    • When Oliva was arrested in 2016, police discovered he had 335 photos of JonBenét including photos from the six-year-old's autopsy
    • Vail, 55, of Ventura, California, has urged police to charge Oliva for JonBenét's death since Oliva is due for parole in 2020"........
Well this is interesting. What are veryone's thoughts on this.

Is he just another false confesser like the pedophile who got arrested in another country for pedophilia so he confessed to killing JBR so he would get extradited back to the US . He was released since his confession was obviously false. He just did it to get out of the prison in the foreign country. So I wonder if Gary has an ulterior motive for a false confessing or if he was ever on the LEO radar?

Well, that's really interesting! Has anyone heard of this suspect before? I hope they've compared his DNA with the unidentified DNA in JBR's case.

Looks like he was on the LEO radar as being sex offender and being in the area. So it looks quite promising in that someone who was a potential suspect actually confesses. But the confession was to a friend (but in his own handwriting supposedly) and not to LEO.

BUT... wtf with the SBLC ransome letter? Did he also write that? Why would he do that?

Is it possible that john and Patsy found the murdered JBR and thought Burke did it so they wrote the letter? (Burke had seriously injured JBR with a golf club and allegedly other things too.

Looks like he has a JBR obsessionas well so if he is mentally unhinged with an obsession then he would be happy to have his name forever linked with hers now that he knows he is in prison for life anyway.
