Okay, that's much more of a threat than was reported! I can't believe she wasn't held accountable at all! Or, can it be proved it didn't happen because she wasn't on the property? I guess Justin's mom would know?

Police run out of leads in search for man who 'just vanished'

In the last known photo of him, Justin Holt is wearing his trademark hat, grinning for the camera as the hopefulness of a new year is celebrated around him.

It was New Year's Eve 2017. The party was in full swing.

Just three days later, Justin Lee Holt would disappear without a trace. Searches for the 35-year-old Muskegon County man have continued right up until about two weeks ago.

But now law enforcement has no further leads. The trail has gone cold. Holt's whereabout remain a heartbreaking mystery.

"We've done everything we can do," said Muskegon County Sheriff Lt. Michael Herremans.

Law enforcement and family members have conducted multiple searches for Holt, primarily around his home in Cedar Creek Township. The latest search for Holt was conducted on the same day a search was underway for Kevin Graves, who went missing from the Electric Forest music festival on July 1.

The Michigan State Police brought in a cadaver dog and checked Holt's home and nearby lake. It didn't find anything. Earlier a bloodhound with Kent County Search and Rescue detected human blood on Holt's driveway.

The MSP helicopter did a flyover as well.

"We're not speculating on whether he's alive or whether he's deceased," Herremans said.

For now, law enforcement is not conducting additional searches, but are continuing to actively investigate new leads, he said.

Brent Holt, Justin's brother, said three dive teams have searched Clear Lake near Justin's home. That was after a sonar search had been conducted shortly after his disappearance.

Brent Holt said Justin left with only his cell phone, which has been shut off. It had service until just a few weeks ago, Brent said.

More conspicuous were Justin Holt's cigarettes that he always carried in his front pants pocket. When he was told the cigarettes were left in the house, Brent Holt said he knew his brother was missing.

His car keys, shoes and coat also were found inside the home. His credit cards haven't been used.

Some foot prints found in the snow behind Justin's home led to the lake, Brent Holt said.

"There's been no activity of any kind," he said. "It's like he just vanished."

Justin Holt was working to get custody of his children, which is one of the reason's Brent Holt doesn't believe his brother would have committed suicide. There had been threats in the custody case, but Herremans said law enforcement checked into the person who made them - and that person had a solid alibi and was more than 1,000 miles away when Holt disappeared on Jan. 3, 2018, Herremans said.

"It's a case we've but a lot of work into and haven't gotten very far," Herremans said.

Twin Lake man missing for more than one year

Investigators with the Muskegon County Sheriff's Department have not closed the missing person case involving the disappearance of Justin Holt.

However, Holt's father Patrick Platt says police have run out of leads in the investigation into his disappearance on Jan. 3, 2018.

"He was gone, just gone," Platt said. "Oh it hurts."

"Hope someone comes forward and tell us where to find him, or this is who knows something about it," he said. "Point us in the right direction."
