Did the church have cameras? How close were her family members when she disappeared? Were there other people using the church that night such as weight watchers, AA, etc?

From the sounds of it, it sounds like the service had let out so there were multiple people out in the lobby.

Nothing is showing on the church calendar. Including the Spanish language services that are apparently every Monday. (From the First Assembly pastor's Facebook page, it looks like it's just another church group that uses their building.) It's possible other groups use the church, but it's not on their calendar. http://www.bullardfirst.org/calendar

Nothing on their Facebook page either - https://www.facebook.com/BullardFirstAssembly/

ETA - Looks like the Bullard AA meets at a different church.

Family of missing East Texas girl: 'She's everything we have'

Family members say Gomez-Orozco went to the Bullard First Assembly church with her mother. Prayer service had just ended and Gomez-Orozco was sitting in the lobby for a few minutes. First with a girl, but after she left, Gomez-Orozco was alone.

"It was five to ten minutes that the mom and the church members were talking and when they turned around to check, she wasn't sitting there anymore," says Garcia.

Garcia says those there searched everywhere they could before calling police.

The restaurant, Taco El Conquistador, is next to the church where Kayla Gomez-Orozco disappeared Tuesday night.

Authorities tell CBS19 they don't know if the robbery is connected.

Day Two: the search continues for Kayla Gomez

As many as 100 law enforcement officers from across the country continued to search Thursday for Kayla Gomez-Orozco, the 10-year-old girl who went missing after a Tuesday night church service.

Cherokee County Sheriff James Campbell said Thursday morning there are boots on the ground searching for Kayla and other personnel were working every possible angle of the investigation. He estimated there are 75 to 100 law enforcement officials in Bullard, but declined to comment directly on the investigation.

Police say a 10-year-old girl who was snatched from a church service in Texas sparking a nationwide amber alert is in 'grave danger'

A 10-year-old girl has been missing from Texas for almost 48 hours, triggering a nationwide Amber Alert.

Police search dogs are combing the area, just south of Tyler, and law enforcement agencies say they are very concerned about Kayla.

A Facebook page, Help Find Kayla Gomez, has been set up and a message posted on it last night asked people to wear her favorite color, pink, on Thursday.

It said: 'We will be adding pink ribbon to our vehicles also - on back windshield wiper or antennae until she is brought home safely. We encourage you to do the same!'

I wonder how they know she was taken? I hope they search and re-search anywhere she could have gone. With the cases we've seen recently where the child is found nearby but was somehow missed by the search teams, I don't know how you would ever declare an area "cleared". I'd be looking on the roof!

Interesting about the restaurant, though. Was it a violent robbery or did they just discover after the fact that maybe cash is missing around the same time a child is missing... maybe someone grabbed her and some cash to head somewhere far away.

Parents, even if you trust your fellow churchgoers, if your kid is near the exits unattended, they can be gone in seconds and churches don't typically have surveillance.

Family says missing Kayla Gomez-Orozco is a bright, happy girl who adores her brothers

Kayla Gomez-Orozco wasn’t there to make sure her older brother, Kenneth Gomez, got up for work on Thursday morning, as she has done every day for as long as he can remember.

The house is quiet now. Ten-year-old Kayla went missing during a church service Tuesday. More than two dozen people were inside the sanctuary, many of them family, while Kayla was said to play with other kids in the lobby area.

“She’s a really happy girl. She’s really joyful all the time,” Kenneth’s girlfriend, Jazmine Aguilar, said. “In the 10 years I’ve known her, I’ve only seen her cry a couple of times.”

Jazmine stood nearby, patiently waiting as Kenneth spoke for the family, occasionally reminding him about a detail or two.

“The house doesn’t have as much life right now,” Kenneth said. “Kayla is the life of it.”

Kayla has left a void. Friends and relatives come and check on the family, who is weary trying to help the FBI and media get information out to find their baby girl.

"Are you protective of your sister?" Kenneth is asked.

    After a pause, he responds.

“I tried," he replies, looking away for the first time during the interview.

Throughout the interview, Kayla's father, Efrain, sits nearby, his eyes red and weary, as he listens to Kenneth give an interview.

For what must feel like the thousandth time, Kenneth pleads for help bringing his sister home.

Our church parking lot is not the only one we use. We use city parking across the street, too.

    This is so frightening.

FBI leads search for East Texas girl, 10, who may have been abducted

Hundreds of volunteers joined the FBI Saturday to search for a 10-year-old who may have been abducted from an East Texas church.

The Tyler Morning Telegraph reported that volunteers included retirees and college students.

The station reported that the small town of Tyler has embraced the missing girl’s family in a show of support.

“It's very nurturing, definitely. The support makes us feel a little bit better,” Kayla’s older brother Kenneth Gomez said. “But at the same time, it makes us realize that this is really happening. And it's not just a nightmare, it's reality.”

The report says a deputy found out a taco restaurant next door to the church had surveillance cameras but they were not working.

AMBER ALERT UPDATE: Sheriff: Possible remains of missing East Texas girl found

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Federal, state, and local law enforcement officials are investigating after a body was discovered at a home in Bullard. Cherokee County Sheriff James Campbell informed that authorities believe it is the body of Kayla Gomez-Orozco, who has been missing since Nov. 1.

Sheriff Campbell said officers received a tip around 6 p.m. Saturday that led them to the discovery. Kayla's family has been notified of the discovery

According to a case investigator, there was evidence recovered on property in the 22000 block of Old Jacksonville Highway in Bullard. A search warrant was sought by investigators to search the property. The area has been taped off by police close to two residences. The location of this area is only a few miles from where Kayla was last seen.

According to witnesses, the search initially began west of the Bullard First Assembly Church, where Kayla was last seen, on Hwy 69. The search party changed its direction mid-afternoon, after an item was found following a tip to law enforcement officials.

Volunteers have been asked to search for the clothing Kayla was last seen wearing, specifically in ditches and along the side of the roads between Bullard and Flint. It is not yet confirmed by officials whether they found a piece of Kayla's clothing or whether Kayla has been located.

Kayla was last seen Tuesday night at the church. Kayla weighs 90 pounds, is 4 feet tall and she has black hair and brown eyes. When she disappeared from Bullard First Assembly she was wearing a black Racquet & Jog t-shirt with a peach-colored skirt.

We have reporters on scene and will continue to update as details become available.

If you have even the smallest tip, call the FBI Tip Line at 972-559-5711 and/or the Crime Stoppers at 903-586-7867.
