Pregnant Postal Worker Missing For A Week

Chicago police are searching for a pregnant postal worker who has been missing for a week.

Kierra Coles, 26, was last seen on Oct. 2, near 81st and Vernon in the Chatham neighborhood, according to her family. Her car is still parked on her block, so her family believes she came home from work that day, but they haven’t heard from her since.

Coles’ family said police have searched her home.

Relatives said she was excited about having her first baby, and it’s unlike her not to contact her family. She hasn’t gone longer than a day without talking to her mother.

Coles’ family planned to pass out flyers and search for Coles on Tuesday.

Her family said she has her purse, keys, and phone, but calls to her number go directly to voice mail.

Oh no...her car was found at home? I wonder if detectives know who else might have been around that day?

Video shows missing pregnant woman from South Chicago on day she was last seen

Surveillance video shows a pregnant woman who has been missing from South Chicago for nearly a week dressed in her work uniform on the day she was last seen.

A neighbor’s surveillance video shows Kierra Coles, 26, dressed in her U.S. Post Service uniform, heading to work on Tuesday, Oct. 9. In the video, she passes her car and goes across the street then disappears out of frame. She was last seen near 82nd Street and Coles Avenue.

“She seen something that made her turn around that fast and cross the street and her car was on the other side of the street,” Dan Perkins, her mother’s boyfriend, said.

Even though she was dressed for work, a U.S. Post Office spokesperson said she called in sick that morning.

Phillips contacted her boyfriend, the father of Coles' unborn child. Coles was three months pregnant and expecting her first child, according to relatives.

Family went to Coles’ apartment at 81st Street and Vernon Avenue to check on her and a missing person’s alert from Chicago police went out Monday.

“I just don’t understand. Who would do something like this? I don’t know. I couldn’t place my finger on it,” Perkins said.

Police searching for missing pregnant postal worker

Chicago police are searching for a missing pregnant postal worker.

Kierra Coles was last seen in her U.S. Postal Service uniform on a neighbor's surveillance video on Wednesday, October 3.

Coles did not report for work that day. Her car is still parked where she left it.

Her family did not hear from her and filed a missing persons report Thursday evening.

"Maybe something did happen where she was overcome with a lot, you know when you are pregnant you are emotional,” said Karen Phillips, Kierra Coles mother. “I want to say she just went somewhere and didn’t want to tell nobody and then she will just come home but I don’t feel that.”

Coles is 12-weeks pregnant and has two tattoos including a heart on her right hand.

Police investigating whether missing mail carrier met with foul play

As more time passes without word of the whereabouts of a pregnant mail carrier, Chicago police detectives are looking into whether the 26-year-old woman met with foul play, officials said.

With a more than $28,000 reward offered, the Chicago Police Department and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are launching a joint investigation into the disappearance of Kierra Coles, who was last seen Oct. 2 near her home in the 8100 block of South Vernon Avenue.

Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said detectives are aware of her personal relationships, and have spoken to people who can account for her whereabouts through Oct. 2. The department is urging anyone with information to reach out, noting they can do so anonymously at CPDtip.com.

“Leads are very important to us now,” Guglielmi said.

Pregnant postal worker missing for over 2 weeks: Police 'suspect possible foul play,' family waiting for answers

Chicago police are now suspecting possible foul play in the case of a missing pregnant United States Postal Service worker.

Kierra Coles, a 27-year-old employee of the U.S. Postal Service, was last seen on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Her two-week disappearance and "the fact that she has fallen off the grid" prompted officials to consider foul play, the Chicago Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.

"Maybe somebody knows something," Keisha Phillips said. "We just want her home. We love her, we miss her. All we can keep doing right now is praying, looking. We're not going to give up until we get answers.

REWARDS OFFERED FOR MISSING WOMAN LAST SEEN IN THE CHATHAM AREA

Kierra Coles, of Chicago who was last seen on Oct. 2 in the Chatham area on 82nd Street and Coles Ave. is still missing but authorities hope the offer of two rewards will bring her back home.

“Based on the length of time of Kierra Coles disappearance and the fact that she has fallen off the grid, police suspect possible foul play. We continue to get leads and are following up diligently on those leads,” the Chicago Police Department said in an official statement.

“I can confirm that the Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to her whereabouts,” said Julie Kenney, public information representative for the United States Postal Inspection Service out of the Chicago division. “She was not on duty at the time of her disappearance and the Chicago Police department is the lead on this investigation but we are assisting with their investigation.”

Search for Kierra Coles, pregnant postal worker missing nearly 2 months, continues

The search for a missing, pregnant U.S. Postal worker continued Friday in Riverdale.

Community activist Andrew Holmes organized a search Friday of Whistler Woods Forest Preserve, choosing this location based off of tips from the community. He declined to go into further specifics so as not to jeopardize the police investigation.

"We don't want to search this forest preserve and then find a deceased body, but at the same time, if we do, then at least the family would know," he said.

Michael Airheart, a volunteer aiding with the search, had similar hopes to Holmes.

"I'm praying that we don't come across nothing, and that she's still alive and that she could go home and continue her life and have kids," he said.

Coles' family did not participate in the search, though Holmes said the family was aware of the effort. He said Coles' mother is still trying to be hopeful for a happy ending.

The search party did discover bones in the area, but it was unclear whether they were human or the remains of Kierra Coles. Area South detectives took possession of the bones to determine whether they were human, according to Chicago Police Department spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi.
