Two men accused of manslaughter of three-year-old Kyhesha-Lee Joughin will stand trial

    May 06, 2015

A QUEENSLAND father charged with abusing and killing his three-year-old daughter has been granted bail.

Matthew Lee Williamson, 30, and co-accused Christopher Arthur Neville Kent, 46, were forced to re-apply for bail today after both were committed to trial charged with the 2013 manslaughter of Kyhesha-Lee Joughin.

Williamson’s bail was renewed with conditions including that he have no unsupervised contact with children, after Kent was released earlier in the day.

The court heard that new details had emerged that the three-year-old had been “sexually interfered with” and had multiple tears and lacerations to her body and vagina.

Kyhesha-Lee was allegedly unable to be revived by ambulance crews after she was found living in “squalid conditions” in her father’s Petrie home, north of Brisbane, on March 30, 2013

Kyhesha-Lee Joughin died a 'lonely, painful death'

    March 15 2016 - 5:20PM

Crown prosecutor Todd Fuller said the toddler had suffered a traumatic death, which could have been avoided as her injuries were treatable.

Mr Fuller alleged the girl's father was the primary offender but Kent had turned a blind eye to her suffering.

"The defendant failed to assist her in her hour of need," he said.

Mr Fuller said there were blood stains throughout the unit and a strong urine smell in Kyhesha-Lee's bedroom, where a rope was put on the door to keep her inside.

Justice Glenn Martin said Kent had a duty of care towards the toddler but noted it was not the same type of responsibility of a parent or spouse.

He said although Kent's duty of care was limited, he had failed to help her.

"It would have been apparent to any caregiver she was seriously unwell," he said.

"She died a lonely, painful death."

Man who failed to help three-year-old girl so badly abused she died from a 'penetrative bowel injury' is sentenced for manslaughter

    15 March 2016

Despite Kent was not responsible for the girl's welfare as he was not her parent, Justice Glenn Martin said he failed to help her in the days leading up to her horrific death.

Christopher Arthur Neville Kent, 47, pleaded guilty to manslaughter over the tragic death of Queensland toddler Kyhesha-Lee Joughin, who was found dead after living in squalid condition.

Brisbane's Supreme Court heard the girl died on March 30, 2013 at the unit she shared with her father and Kent after failing to receive medical attention for a bowel injury that became infected

The court heard an autopsy found Kyhesha-Lee had suffered a penetrative injury after being 'physically and sexually assaulted over a period of time', ABC News reported.

Crown prosecutor Todd Fuller told the court bloodstains were discovered around the home and on clothing found strewn throughout the unit, according to The Courier Mail.

There is something more than seriously wrong when a person is given a get out of jail card for the manslaughter of a baby.

Some people are given more than that for killing an animal.

Absolutely digusted in our justice system.....it is appalling. Why even bother having a damn trial. There is no justice for victims. Especially this poor beautiful little baby......
