Laura Lynne Stacy moved from Colorado to California and was last seen Saturday near her apartment in the 3600 block of Barham Boulevard, two blocks south of Forest Lawn Drive, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

Stacy's car, a 2005 black Acura TL, with a Colorado license plate number of 597WFD, was found in a remote area in Lancaster on Tuesday night, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Just so y'all know, I consider Lancaster to be a far cry from Hollywood Hills. This isn't looking very good, I'm afraid.

Her phone was found in a puddle Monday at a Santa Clarita park, nearly 30 miles from Stacy's apartment. The person who found the phone texted Stacy's parents around 5 a.m.

Authorities said Tuesday that there were reported sightings of Stacy Sunday and Monday, including near the site where the phone was found. Family members said she last spoke with a family member, a sister, Sunday at noon

Her parents joined Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department search-and-rescue personnel in the area as the investigation continued from the air and on the ground.

"I think she ran out of gas and then she probably started getting out of her car to walk and then she didn't know where to go," Marcie Stacy said.

"This is a very busy road," said Steve Stacy, "so we're just hoping somebody saw her, picked her up and helped her somewhere. Hopefully she sees some of these interviews and gives us a call."

Laura Stacy had contacted her sister and a few other people Sunday afternoon, according to police. About 5 a.m. Monday, Stacy's phone was discovered in a puddle at Golden Valley Park in Santa Clarita.

Her parents, who flew to the Southland from their home in Denver, said Stacy usually keeps in touch with them, especially since she moved several months ago. They added that their daughter was in good spirits during their last conversation and has a propensity to explore.

She "loves California and the beaches and likes to check out new places," her mother said.

Sheriff's Detective Tim O'Quinn emphasized the case was a missing-person investigation Wednesday.

"I don't have a critical or suspicious nature to it," he said. "It certainly could develop that way, but we don't have that just at this time yet. We're still conducting essentially a grid search of a location where a car was found."

Stacy is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

This photo, released by the family, shows 28-year-old Laura Lynne Stacy.

A 28-year-old California woman who was reported missing over the weekend was found alive Wednesday walking alongside a freeway, officials said.

Laura Lynne Stacy was last seen Sunday morning leaving her Hollywood Hills apartment. A day later, her cellphone was found in a puddle of water about 30 miles away at Golden Valley Park in Santa Clarita. Her vehicle -- with Colorado license plates -- was discovered Tuesday night with its doors locked along the side of a highway in a remote desert area of Lancaster, Calif.

Officers who were responding to the area Wednesday to help look for Stacy spotted her walking along the 14 Freeway nearly 60 miles from her home, police told FOX 11 Los Angeles.

Officials told FOX 11 she was taken to the hospital out of precaution, and was going to be reunited with her family.

Laura Stacy being put into stretcher - just out of precaution- she's being taken to Antelope Valley Hospital

Stacy's 2005 black Acura TL -- covered with frost -- was towed from the location early Wednesday morning. A law enforcement source told Fox News there were no "obvious signs of foul play" at the scene but said forensic testing is being conducted on the vehicle.

It's a few hundred miles apart, but I hope this isn't a situation like Sherri Papini.

“The family is very grateful to have located their daughter, Laura Lynne Stacy, and would like to thank everyone involved in the search to locate her,” said Lisa Garcia, a representative for Stacy’s family.

“Specifically, we would like to thank the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for their swift response, the LASD Volunteer Search and Rescue team and local volunteers who came out to search, and to the media for alerting the public, all of which helped to bring this search to a close.”

“Our daughter’s physical condition is currently being evaluated by medical professionals, and we await the results. Our family is not in a position to grant interviews at this time and, as a result, we respectfully request privacy. We will advise later when we are prepared to give a further statement.”

Stacy’s exact condition wasn’t immediately available, but she was examined by paramedics and taken to Antelope Valley Hospital to be examined Wednesday. How she wound up in the northern reaches of the county remains a mystery for now.

Los Angeles police Lt. Dionne Watts said the woman was suffering from exposure to the recent cold. Stacy was found along the 14 Freeway near Avenue K.

“Miss Stacy was located by our detectives who were responding to assist in the investigation here in Lancaster,” Watts said. “They observed her walking on the side of the freeway, made contact with her and verified that it was her.”

I do hope they are able to find a way to keep Laura safe in the future, no matter what the cause of her prior disappearance.
