    Circumstances of Disappearance
Rahn was last seen at her mother's Merrimack Street apartment in Manchester during the evening hours of April 27, 1980. There were no clues at the apartment where she last was seen, and there was nothing to be learned from the two friends who had seen her within an hour of when she disappeared.

Laureen's mother found that her October 1980 phone bill included charges for three calls placed from Santa Monica, California on October 1. She immediately decided that Laureen must have placed the calls. With the help of Santa Monica police, Rahn discovered that two of the calls were placed from a motel pay phone to a motel in nearby Santa Ana. The third call was to a hotline for teens who had questions about sex. Police investigators contacted the doctor who ran the hotline, but apparently were unable to find out what he knew. An investigator followed up on the hotline tip in 1985. A man identifying himself as a plastic surgeon answered the call. He said that numerous runaway girls occasionally visited his wife at their home. He also told the investigator that one of the young women may have been from New Hampshire.

An investigator visited California in 1986 and located the two motels involved in the October 1980 phone calls. Authorities said that one of the establishments may have been used by a child pornographer named "Dr. Z." Investigators were unable to link "Dr. Z" to the teen hotline. Authorities suspect that foul play was involved in Rahn's disappearance.

For a case this bizarre, MSM coverage is pretty much non-existent.

Sounds like a sex trafficking case, from the little bit we can glean. Thank you for bringing attention to Laureen!

New Hampshire unsolved case file: Where is Laureen Rahn?

Laureen Rahn, 14, was last seen alive the evening of April 26, 1980, or the early-morning hours of April 27, 1980.

Rahn's mother reported her missing at 3:45 a.m. April 27, 1980, police said.

Her mother told officers that she went out of town with a friend and her daughter asked to remain home. When the mother arrived home about 1:15 a.m., she found that the apartment's back door was open, the front door was unlocked and her daughter's friend was sleeping in her daughter's bed.

Rahn's friend told police that she and Rahn had been drinking. She said Rahn had been in bed, but left the bedroom and took a pillow and blanket to sleep on a couch in another room. Police said there were no signs of a struggle in the apartment. They said Rahn may have left the apartment willingly with the intent to return shortly thereafter as she did not leave with any clothing, money or personal items.

Rahn has not been seen or heard from since. Police said they have followed up on thousands of tips that took their investigation as far away as California and Canada. But despite that, the case remains unsolved.

An investigator followed up on the hotline tip in 1985. A man identifying himself as a plastic surgeon answered the call. He said that numerous runaway girls occasionally visited his wife at their home. He also told the investigator that one of the young women may have been from New Hampshire. The individual claimed that Annie Sprinkle, a woman who allegedly worked with his wife in the fashion industry, may have had information concerning several runaways. Authorities learned that Sprinkle was involved in the pornography industry and scanned several of her films in an attempt to locate Laureen. No evidence linking Sprinkle to Laureen's disappearance was discovered and she has never been implicated in her case.

An investigator visited California on Judith's behalf in 1986 and located the two motels involved in the October 1980 phone calls. Authorities said that one of the establishments may have been used by a child pornographer named "Dr. Z." Investigators were unable to link "Dr. Z" to the teen hotline and it is not known if pornography was involved in Laureen's disappearance.

Roger Maurais, Laureen's childhood friend in Manchester, received a call from a woman identifying herself as "Laurie" or "Laureen" in 1986. Maurais's mother answered the call and said that the person claimed to be her son's former girlfriend. The caller's identity remains unknown.

One of Laureen's family members reported seeing a girl matching her description in a Boston, Massachusetts bus terminal in 1981. Judith received phone calls around the Christmas holidays for several years from an unknown individual. She said that the person listened silently when Laureen's sister answered the phone, then terminated the call shortly afterwards. The calls stopped after Judith changed her phone number several years after Laureen vanished.

This has stuck in My Head since I read about it. IT IS SO BIZARRE. That's the best word to describe it I guess. Basics of, She just POOF! GONE FROM HER APARTMENT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! WITHOUT HER NEW SHOES! HER FRIEND SLEEPING IN HER BED. THE BOY WHO WAS THERE EARLIER THAT NIGHT LATER COMMITTED SUICIDE. (It was stated it was unrelated) BUT STILL! ALL THE "LIGHTBULBS" IN THE STAIRWELL WERE UNSCREWED. What happened??? There comes to Mind the "Phone Calls" on the Phone Bill for a "Teen Sex HELP line" of some sort. Then after Her disappearance, The Mysterious Phone Calls received by her Mother. I believe were "Laureen" I think maybe She got Pregnant, calling the "Help line" would make sense. I could find NO INFORMATION ON Dr.Z. And LITTLE ON SPRINKLE. I DO THINK THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH WHATEVER ULTIMATELY HAPPENED TO HER.

Manchester Police, FBI Resume Search in 37-Year-Old Cold Case
The FBI and Manchester Police are searching the woods on Kimball Street for a woman who went missing more than 37 years ago.
By Dana Forsythe, Patch Staff | May 15, 2018 1:03 pm ET | Updated May 16, 2018 12:05 am ET

MPD and FBI evidence collection specialists were seen conducting an extensive search using heavy equipment behind the Kimball St housing project. The views from the air show a large cleared area with pieces of equipment being used to move the earth.

According to the cold case database Charley Project, Denise Ann Daneault was last seen leaving a private social club in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire at 1:30 a.m. on June 8, 1980. After she left the club, telling friends she was going to a party, she was never seen again.

Divorced with two young sons, Daneault lived with a roommate in the 300 block of Hayward Street Street in Manchester.

According to reports at the time, Laureen Rahn, a 14-year-old girl who lived on Merrimack Street just two blocks from Daneault, disappeared six weeks before Daneault did and was never found.

Daneault lived just a few doors down from suspected serial killer Terry Peder Rasmussen, who was living in the area under the name "Bob Evans", one of his many false identities, at the time.
He pleaded guilty to murdering his wife in California in 2003, and died in 2010.

Authorities believe Rasmussen was responsible for at least five more deaths, including the murder of Denise Beaudin, who disappeared from Goffstown, New Hampshire in 1981 and was never found, the murders of an unidentified woman and three female children whose bodies were found in a wooded area near Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown, New Hampshire.
