I'd like to know Lyle's true identity but respect the family's wishes if they decide not to make his name public.
The main goal for me is that he gets his real name back, and no longer be a "John Doe".

I would have liked to have known his story, but do understand. I imagine the family would be bombarded with people and press
wanting information. They may not know what happened to "Lyle" and are just now getting the shocking news. They have a lot
    to deal with.

My thoughts are with his family. I'm glad he has his name back, that is what is important.

Thanks again for the update and what his family's wishes are.

Be careful with information coming from Reddit. The website does not require verification of information that is posted.

It also looks like DNA Doe Project has also confirmed this as well; however I’m hearing that fingerprints were the primary factor for identification and somehow DNADP played a huge role in that.

I saw a tweet saying that Grays Harbor County has confirmed, and now I can't find it again to link.

    Gray's Harbor Sheriff's Office

Through the work of the DNA Doe Project, the group was able to come up with a possible match of a man from California. Associated with this possible match were names of relatives. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office were able to contact these possible family members and eventually able to positively identify “Lyle” through fingerprints provided by the family. The family believed that “Lyle” was still alive, just did not want to associate with family. Our victim was 25 years of age at the time of his death.

As a matter of practice, the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office does not provide the names of individuals who have committed suicide. And the family of “Lyle” has also requested that his name not be released.

Aside from the hard-working volunteers, the group’s organizers wanted to express their heartfelt appreciation to all the many donors who contributed to the cost of the tests. This was the group’s first Doe Fund Me case and was funded in less than 24 hours with contributions from around the world. The group also wanted to thank all 900,000 plus people who have contributed their DNA results to the GEDmatch database. Without them this identification could never have been made.

DDP is pleased to announce that our John Doe known as Lyle Stevik has finally been identified. The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office has notified his family and they are now dealing privately with their loss. They have requested that none of their names be made public. We will honor that request.

I'm glad he was identified, every family deserves as much. But since the online community helped so much, I feel sad that we don't know who he was. :(

I am of the understanding, combing through some articles in regards to this case, that the young man was 25, from Alameda County, California. According to Det. Youmans, the father of this man was informed of all the efforts in identifying “Lyle Stevik” and the father greatly appreciated the efforts everyone went through to get to this point.
