Tips received by the St. George Police Department and on St. George News Facebook page have yielded reports of the St. George teen being spotted Tuesday on Brigham Road in St. George. Macin Smith was reported standing at the onramp to southbound I-15.

“We’ve had some tips that he was holding a sign on I-15 that said Las Vegas,” St. George Police Sgt. Rich Triplett said, adding the tips were several days ago and there has been nothing since then.

Anyone with information regarding Macin Smith is asked to call:

St. George Police Department – Telephone 435-627-4300

MISSING 11 days: Community asked to help in organized search for Macin Smith

Note: The meeting place for the search has change to the LDS chapel at 2668 Crimson Ridge Drive in St. George

ST. GEORGEOn Sept. 1, 17-year-old Macin Smith mysteriously vanished. No trace has been turned up of his whereabouts, so his family along with a search and rescue team out of Las Vegas are organizing a search.

Volunteers are needed and are asked to meet Saturday morning at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 2668 Crimson Ridge Drive in the Little Valley area of St. George. Meeting time is 6 a.m. and participants are asked to bring hydration and two-way radios, if they have them.

The search will be directed by Red Rock Search and Rescue from Las Vegas, who spent Friday morning with the Smith family.

Arrangements were made and plans finalized for Saturday’s search.

A new urgency has taken hold of the searchers. Tracey Smith, Macin Smith’s mother said that a three-page letter was found with what Tracey Smith called “suicidal intentions.”

Search continues for 17-year-old Macin Smith of St. George

David Cummings, commander with Red Rock Search and Rescue in Las Vegas, a group that specializes in missing and runaway individuals, told The Independent that many times if individuals are over the age of 12, the search is called off too quickly. With over 100,000 volunteer man hours spent looking for other missing children, the group will continue to help, even when the official search is ended.

In a post on the ‘Help Find Macin Smith’ page on Facebook, Cummings posted a message addressing Smith:

“Hey Macin, this is Dave with Red Rock Search and Rescue here in Las Vegas.. WOW I bet if you’re seeing everything that’s going on your feelings are running in a thousand directions… I know they are… and I feel your pain. Please listen to me as I have a lot of experience with kids in your exact position. 1, you are in ZERO trouble NONE… 2, you are in ZERO trouble NONE…. 3, you can call me on my personal line from any device and we can take you to a Safe Haven, get you fed and allow you time ALONE to make a decision that is right for you. (702-787-4068) 4, I have met with your parents, man do they love you… and St George oh my what a wonderful community of kind, loving humans that want nothing but the best for you. 5, YOU ARE NOT ALONE ON HOW YOU FEEL… more than 90 percent of kids we see runaway do it for reasonable reasons but these can be fixed. At least call me to say you are ok, if you do this we can take a lot of the heat off this, take all the signs down so you aren’t looking over your shoulder. But please reach out 702-787-4068 call me from someone’s phone… talk for just a few seconds… give me a code word your family would know so they know you are ok…. Thank you sir, I am here to help you as a neutral party…. DAVE”

According to Missingkids.com, the missing children issue is complex and multifaceted.

Oh no! As an older adult, the one thing I wish I could tells kids is this: life goes through SO many changes! You are loved and cherished and you're only just beginning this road into adulthood. You have the power of the world right in the palm of your hands. Live it! Take the punches and set backs and use them to learn and grow and build upon.

Always ALWAYS remember, God is not finished with you yet!

I sincerely hope and pray that Macin is alive and well. Jesus take the wheel....

$1,000 reward offered for information leading to Macin Smith

A reward is being offered for any information leading to a Utah teen who went missing 7 weeks ago.

Original reports stated that Smith may be in the Las Vegas area, but other reports indicate that he could be as far away as Los Angeles.

Reward offered for information on missing Utah teen

Macin Smith's family is offering up to $1,000 for information.

Crews have been searching around Las Vegas for him too after witnesses reported seeing him holding a sign reading, "Hitchhiking to Vegas."

Reward, song offered for missing teen

The RRSAR team is made up of 200 people out of Las Vegas, 60 of which were deployed to St. George during the last search for Smith.

Cummings said a team with dogs will make another search attempt this weekend.

Carlie Wall has been helping in the search of Macin in a more nontraditional way — through music.

Wall, who is originally from Bloomington, wrote a song for Smith’s family to help them during this time. The local musician said it had been posted on YouTube and has since gained traction by getting people who knew nothing about Smith interested in the case.

Family of St. George teen missing 10 weeks plans social media blitz

Tuesday marks 10 weeks since 17-year-old Macin Smith walked away from his family St. George home.

The 6'4" basketball player hasn't been seen or heard from since. Now, for the 10-week anniversary of his disappearance, his family is planning a social media blast they hope will "get the whole world involved" in the search for their son.

The newly created Facebook event, named "Macin's Posting Marathon #MPM," lays out the Nov. 10 plan like this:

Utah teen Macin Smith was last seen leaving his St. George, Utah home on September 1, 2015 for another day of senior year at Desert High School. The 17-year-old never showed up to school. All of his personal belongings, including his cellphone and wallet, were found at home. Police have classified Macin as a juvenile runaway, but say the case is being taken very seriously. Hundreds continue to post almost daily on the 'Help Find Macin Smith' Facebook page, and request flyers to be posted in other states where Macin may have gone. If you have any information that can help bring Macin home, please contact the St. George Police Department at (435) 627-4300.

Sketches released in search for missing Utah teen

Red Rock Search and Rescue put out a new flier in the search for a Southern Utah teenager missing since September.

The new flier for missing 17-year-old Macin Smith shows artist renderings of what he may look like now, more than 3 months after he was last seen in St. George, Utah.

Search efforts still underway behind the scenes for Macin Smith

It’s been over three months since 17-year-old Macin Smith was reported missing from his St. George, Utah home but the search is not over.

While no new developments have turned up from reported sightings, efforts to find the 6’4” teenager have not stopped.

A new missing persons poster includes an artists rendition of what Macin might look like today, being unshaven with longer hair. The poster is being shared through the Las Vegas Red Rock Search and Rescue Facebook site.

I'm just sick that this young man is still missing; it's great to see his family hasn't dropped the proverbial ball. I hope with all my heart for a positive outcome; but I fear that may not be the case, based on the suicide note:sigh:
Macin, if you're out there & checking the internet, PLEASE know many, many people love you and want to help! Don't give up on yourself!

Dave Cummings - very poweful message, (this bloke sounds like a legend :)), i hope Macin can hear it.
The most important words in the world are in it, a lifeline with no conditions.

Im thinking of this young man, and the people who love him.

St. George welcomes search, rescue team that won’t quit

Red Rock Search and Rescue Las Vegas division was created during a search for Ron Kirk, a lost hiker who had gone missing in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Likewise, when Macin Smith went missing in September 2015, the Red Rock Search and Rescue St. George division was born.

Both divisions were created out of need. Namely, when time and resources run out for local search and rescue teams, there will remain a group that “does not quit.”
