MAPS for the Unidentified / Missing

I've recently been working on a project to map out missing persons. I've also recently been adding Unidentified people to that map. I've been doing the Northwest, as that's where I'm from. It's an ongoing project but I thought the visual representation could be helpful to those who work on UID cases and matches.

To do each state in the country would take way too long. But if anyone wants to work on their state, let me know, and I'll add it to this post when it's done. This OP can be an updated, ongoing list of completed maps.

Like I said, ongoing project. I probably missed some, but I did my best to pull from a variety of sources including NamUs, Doe Network, NCMEC, Charley Project, state databases, etc.

Most points are just placed at random in the general location. If a specific location of disappearance or found person was listed, I tried to get as close as possible. But some may just be at random within a city or county. Most UIDs are more specifically placed than missing persons.

I love what you've done! When I look from my phone, it shows me how far the locations are and how to get there from my location!

Thanks!!! I have found that the maps aren't terribly phone friendly. On a computer, you can click on the point and it will bring up more info, plus a link and picture, if available. That part wasn't working from my phone when I tried before. Hopefully they make it more mobile-friendly. But very computer friendly, I think.

Also forgot to mention that they're sorted by date. So if you're looking at a UID, and you want to know if the dot next to them can be an option, just double check the dates. (Also color-coded by decade.)

    What a great resource!
When you see maps like this, and you see the clusters appear, it gives a better perpective of the area - many things you can consider.
    Great job!

Finally sat down and finished Alaska's map. Link updated in the OP.

Alaska's tough. Lots and lots of rivers, and of course, the seas. Hopefully it can help someone tho.

Thinking of doing some other states. Not sure which yet.

Well done SheWho MustNotBeNamed!!! More great resources! Er..... when you reach New York State, Upper, along the Niagara River to Old Fort Niagara, and Batavia Downs Racetrack area could you keep your eye out for any young girls between the age of 6 and 10 missing or unidentified found remains for me, and give me a heads up....that would so help! Thank you.

It may be a while. I'm focusing on the Western US first. :)

COLORADO is done and has been added to the OP. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?...l=39.694956917726245,-105.74337816109909&z=15

Utah and Nevada have been added to the OP.

Came across a first... Nevada has MORE unidentified bodies than they have missing persons... If you're trying to make a match but can't find one in the same area, check Nevada. Seriously. It's out of control.

I've read people online writing that bodies are often left in the desert, but this is the first time I've seen it confirmed!

Needed a change of scenery. Did a bit on the east coast. Just added MAINE, NEW HAMPSHIRE, VERMONT, and RHODE ISLAND.
