Four volunteer fire departments, law enforcement officials and K9 units conducted a search in the wooded area behind Inez' Mobile Home Park and the girl's home located at 2404 Dawson Cabin Road earlier today.

At least three to four Onslow County Sheriff's Department vehicles were on the scene. Onslow County Communications flew a drone in the area to aid in the search. A helicopter from New Hanover County Sheriff's Office also conducted aerial support.

The Provost Marshals Office from Camp Lejeune also took part in the search, along with Camp Lejeune Range Control.

Sheriff Miller said that officials have interviewed the mother of the little girl and her live-in boyfriend. They also conducted a search of the house and vehicle.

Officials are asking neighbors in the area to check their yards, sheds and other areas for any evidence of a little girl.

Ugh. “Wakes up to find child gone” is a lie, 95% of the time.
Not that it doesn’t ever happen. But not usually.
Hoping this little girl is safe.

Grabbed a few more pics of Mariah from mom's Facebook page... The one they've released isn't great quality. But it appears to be the most recent, from her 3rd birthday earlier this month.

I wonder what the story is behind the leg braces, especially since none of the pics seem to show her wearing them

Agencies from across ENC search for missing toddler

From dawn to dusk, federal, local and military law enforcement officials searched for a missing Onslow County 3-year-old.

Mariah Kay Woods, 3, was reported missing shortly after 6 a.m. Monday and had not been found by nightfall.

Onslow County 911 Emergency Services received a call of a missing child from Christine Woods, the girl’s 32-year-old mother, according to Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller who, along with his command staff, was on the scene at an ad hoc command center across the street from the residence on Dawson Cabin Road near Williams Road continuously Monday morning and afternoon.

Relatives, close friends and the family’s spiritual advisors were there throughout the day.

For several years, Edwards has driven Mariah to doctor’s offices in Chapel Hill. Anne Edwards said Mariah has ambulatory issues with her left leg causing her to stumble frequently after taking a few steps.

“She has a distinct walk whereby she swings out her left leg as she strides forward,” she said.

Mariah is described as a white girl, approximately 2-feet-9-inches tall and weighing about 30 pounds, according to the Amber Alert regarding her disappearance. The alert also states she has brown hair and blue eyes. Anne Edwards said her nickname “CiCi.”

“We have personnel from the FBI, United States Marine Corps Criminal Investigation Division, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Camp Lejeune Provost Marshal Office and the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office here at the scene and we’re getting assistance from New Hanover, Brunswick and Wayne counties sheriff’s offices,” Miller said. The civilian helicopter was sent from New Hanover and Brunswick counties and tracking dogs were brought in from Wayne County and from Camp Lejeune.

At 2 p.m. Miller said the search was continuing under several scenarios.

“It could be abduction, it could be a kidnapping or it could be a runaway,” he said.

Many area residents have asked what they can do to help in the search for a missing 3-year-old girl.

Sheriff Hans Miller asks that neighbors living along Dawson Cabin Road and Old Wilmington Highway check their immediate surroundings and backyards. If they see something suspicious such as an article of clothing he asks they immediately call 911. Miller says the person should not leave the site until law enforcement officers arrive.
