She needs to be arrested. And before the service tomorrow. She doesn’t deserve to be there.

    Sickening.

    What a precious, beautiful baby.
    Another one.

Also....notice how the media continues to call babies "girls" and "boys".
Occasionally they will use the word "toddler".
This is deliberate. The attempt to sexualize babies and children...homogenize the fact that these are babies to lessen the impact of their abuse.
    Sickening.

A man who was initially charged for disposing 3-Year-old Mariah Woods body has now been charged with her murder.
Earl Kimrey, 32, was the live-in boyfriend of Mariah Woods mother Kristy Kay Hunter/Woods. Kimrey was charged in her disappearance earlier in the investigation. Those charges are concealing of death, obstruction of justice, second degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property. That same man is now being charged with Mariah’s murder.

Earl Kimrey’s Attorney Walter Paramore was spotted walking out of the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office this morning after the announcement of the new charges Kimrey faces. [IMG]

A press release on the arrest reads as follows:

Over the past eight weeks members of the Sheriff’s Office, Onslow County District Attorney and other assisting agencies have been working hard to complete the investigation in the death of Mariah Woods. As all remember Mariah, a 3-year-old little girl was reported missing from her home on the morning of November 27, 2017. Mariah was reported missing by her biological mother’s boyfriend, Adolphus Earl Kimrey II, 32 years old.

It was reported that Mariah and her brothers were all put to bed by their mother, Kristy Woods on the prior evening and everything was fine. The following morning when the mother awoke, Mariah was missing. Kimrey provided a story that indicated that after the mother was asleep, Mariah had gotten up but was sent back to bed. Kimrey further explained that he left the residence for a short period of time and left the door unlocked.

Once the report was received by the Sheriff’s Office at approximately 6:30 a.m., an intensive search was initiated. This search included numerous local, state and federal agencies. Members of the military and numerous citizen volunteers searched many miles of residential, woodland and farm land in an effort to find Mariah. Hundreds of tips and leads were followed by investigators with little results. The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office has collected over two hundred and fifty items of physical evidence during this investigation. Many of these items have been submitted for additional forensic examination to the FBI Forensics Lab in Quantico, Virginia.

Leads developed during the investigation led detectives to the Holly Shelter Creek bridge in Pender County where a dive team recovered Mariah’s body on December 2, 2017.

Kimrey was initially charged on December 2, 2017 with Obstruction of Justice, Conceal an Unattended Death, Possession of Stolen Goods, Second Degree Burglary and Larceny After Breaking and Entering. Kimrey has been in custody since that date in the Onslow County Detention Center under a secured $1,010,000.00 appearance bond. Additional charges have been pending the completion of the autopsy and other forensic lab analysis.

An autopsy was conducted on December 4, 2017 by East Carolina University in Greenville and a preliminary cause of death was provided; however, additional chemical and toxicology testing was required. On January 22, 2018 those additional test results were received by the medical examiner. On January 23, 2018, members of the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and the District Attorney’s Office were in consultation with the Medical Examiner’s Office to review these findings. The cause of death was determined to be chloroform toxicity.

On January 24, 2018 charges of 1st Degree Murder and Felony Child Abuse Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury/Death were filed against Adolphus Earl Kimrey II. Kimrey was placed under a no bond and held for a first appearance. This first appearance is set for January 24, 2018 at 2 p.m. in Onslow County District Court.

The mother of Mariah, Kristy Woods, has been cooperative with the investigation and continues to cooperate with the detectives as the investigation continues. These additional charges do not mean the investigation is concluded but will continue until all leads and information is thoroughly evaluated.

“The death of a child is always a sobering reminder of how fragile life is. When the community is so deeply affected by such a horrific crime it is sometimes difficult to not allow our emotions to influence the decisions that we make. However, the best way to honor Mariah is to ensure a fair and thorough investigation, which will lead to a successful prosecution. We must remember that through these moments, together, as a community we can ensure that justice will be delivered for Mariah. We sincerely thank the community for their patience and support through this entire investigation” Sheriff Hans Miller states.

So, did he chloroform her just to get her to sleep or to drug her while he sexually abused her?

How strange! Chloroform is what we ultimately learn was used in her death, and this is all somehow related to burglary?! Makes my head spin. May Mariah Rest In Peace.

Chloroform toxicity: What is it and why did it kill Mariah Woods?

It's found in small doses in swimming pools, tap water, and was originally used as a dry cleaning spot remover, a fumigant, and an anesthetic.

Authorities did not state whether she breathed the chemical in or ingested it.

The Environmental Protection Agency says chloroform is 40 times sweeter than sugar, and has a very pleasant smell.

According to UNCW Chemistry Professor Pamela Seaton, just a tiny amount of the chemical — about 1.5 ounces or the size of a shot glass — can kill.

The health effects from the chemical, which is a probable carcinogen, are alarming as well.

"It will render a person unconscious then they can asphyxiate or they can have heart problems that will cause arrhythmia or defibrillation. Basically, it can be deadly," Seaton said.

Surprisingly, it can be made by combining several household products like bleach and acetone or nail polish remover. A simple YouTube search reveals numerous tutorials on how to make the chemical.

"Those items can produce chloroform. Chlorine comes from the bleach itself but it would be produced it in small quantities. However, if you breathe it in, it can be toxic," Seaton said. "You wouldn't want to let kids play with it."

Seaton says the chemical is highly regulated and not found in stores.

"A person shouldn't be able to go out and buy it," she said. "You have to have a license. If someone has it they have gotten it from work or some other source."

Kimrey remains in the Onslow County Jail under no bond. His next court date is February 14.

Search warrants reveal new details in death of Mariah Woods

New details have been released in the murder of Mariah Woods, the Onslow County toddler whose body was found nearly two months ago.

In one search warrant application for the mother's van, a sheriff's office deputy said that witnesses told them Kimrey was seen around 11:30 p.m. on the night of November 26th "placing an object in the van 'bigger than a book bag' and then leaving the residence." That was the night before the toddler was reported missing.

Among items seized at the home on Dawson Cabin Road were receipts for different stores were found in outside trashcans, gray duct tape, part of a gray floor mat from the van, four bottles of bleach, syringes, a black bag with duct tape, a shovel, several pieces of carpet, carpet pad, a black flashlight and swabs from a black flashlight.

A section of the wall from a bedroom in the house was also seized by deputies.

Prosecutors say they'll seek the death penalty against Kimrey, who was indicted earlier this month's for Woods' murder.
