Sanford police searching for 3-month-old girl kidnapped by father

Sanford police are investigating the kidnapping of a 3-month girl on Sunday by her father, according to a department spokesman.

Tedrick Mazion, 31, went into an apartment shortly after 8:30 a.m. in the 400 block of West Seminole Boulevard and forcibly removed his daughter, Na’Tori Mazion, from the residence despite her mother’s attempts to stop him, said police spokesman Ronny Neal.

Sanford police search for man accused of kidnapping 3-month-old daughter

An Amber Alert has been issued for 3-month-old Na'tori Mazion, who officials said was last seen in Sanford. She may be traveling with a suspected abductor in a 2017 red Nissan Altima with black rims and black-tinted windows with license plate number 4ALWY.

Sanford Police Department spokesman Ronny Neal said investigators do not have any information that would lead them to believe the girl is in danger of being harmed.

"What's important is that we know Natori is safe," Neal said. "We want to make sure that the family understands that the police department is looking into this matter and is serious."

Neal said Mazion entered Na'tori's mother's residence in the apartment complex around 8:30 a.m., where he kidnapped the baby, even after her mother attempted to stop him. A physical altercation broke out between the two, but Neal said there is no indication Na'tori was hurt.

Mazion has not been involved in Na'tori's life since she was born, according to Neal. He said Mazion and Na'tori's mother have a history of domestic violence.

"Anytime that you have acts of violence, whether it be leading from the past up to the present, that is an important thing that we look at," Neal said.

Other law enforcement agencies have also been participating in the search. Neal said the investigation is very active.

"Right now, this is number one priority," Neal said. "Anytime we have a child that is removed from a home or that is in jeopardy or any type of danger, we take that seriously."
