An armed man took three hostages in Paris on Tuesday afternoon, demanding to be put in contact with the Iranian Embassy. The hostages have now been freed and the suspect arrested, the French interior minister announced.

The man was described as “determined and violent” and claimed to have a handgun and a bomb according to police, The Guardian reported. Police also said the man was believed to have an accomplice outside the building where he was holding the hostage in a northern district of the French capital. Paris hostages freed, suspect arrested after 4 hours
    PARIS — Jun 12, 2018, 4:55 PM ET

A four-hour hostage standoff in central Paris ended with police moving in, arresting the armed suspect and freeing the people held in a ground-floor office, France's interior minister announced late Tuesday.
The Paris prosecutor's office detained the suspect, a 26-year-old man born in Morocco, a judicial official said. It was not immediately clear if he had French nationality.
Two hostages were freed, one who reportedly had been doused with gasoline and threatened by the hostage-taker with being set on fire, French TV news stations BFM-TV and CNews reported.
The hostage-taker also claimed he had an accomplice outside the building with a bomb, according to union official Lefebvre. Police swept vehicles in the area with a device but found nothing, he said.
