Police have released an image of a man they believe was responsible for two sexual assaults on a teenage girl at Sunshine in Melbourne's west 30 years ago.

The man grabbed the 15-year-old girl from behind as she was checking on her horse in a paddock near a caravan park on Ballarat Road about 4:00pm on March 22, 1986.

He pulled her to the ground and assaulted her.

Nearly four months later, the same man threatened the girl with a knife and attacked her again, in the same place.

The victim was interviewed on 3aw today Lily, she spoke of how traumatized she still feels, even after having many years of counselling.
I heard the pain in her voice :(

@MissyMoo - I was super glad to see that the cold case squad is after this guy - their track record is awesome!

The poor victim... How horrible that she's still hurting all these years later. It's just sickening that she was attacked once, let alone twice by the same man.. That's gotta leave some scars. :( Let's hope she at least gets to see justice done very soon.

The rapist must've been watching her see to her horses each day and just waited for his chance.. And then did it again... she was totally targetted and no way he wasn't watching her. So was he an opportunist? Obsessed? Was he hiding in some bushes, or looking out a window?

I note there was a caravan park close by. Surely the police scoured the place back in the day?

May the answers (and an arrest) come soon.
